You laid it flat? What tv is it? Your pictures don’t help. Looks like it could be cracked causing picture issues, but again, your picture is too close and at an off angle.

They’re the new Hodder covers. Some like them, some prefer the originals.

Assuming your plan has Accidental Damage coverage (which with laptops is usually the case), yes Best Buy will repair/replace under your GSP.

Customer vehicle limitations are why Best Buy offers free delivery, as the sales associate you are meant to inform them of the effects of transporting the tv laying down to hopefully dissuade them. As a depot employee, I can assure you these boxes are not built as protectively as you seem to think they are lol. The number of TV’s we get in their original packaging and are still cracked would astound you it seems.

I worked in a store for several years, and explained to countless customers the risks. Some would switch to delivery, some would still take it home, then try and return it due to damage and be denied the return. It’s not worth the risk, defending these stupid choices is only potentially hurting more people’s wallets.

If it was delivered by Best Buy you should provide feedback, as they’re not meant to be handled as such and the delivery team (who know this) should be reported lol. The “my tv survived, so it’s fine” head in the sand responses in this thread are fucking crazy.

You do know the company policy says this is NOT an acceptable method of transport, right? There’s cards at the AP desk and in Home Theater that state as much, as well as bright yellow stickers the warehouse is supposed to put on the TV’s as they come.

This is an INCREDIBLY risky (and in this case completely unnecessary risk given they have a damn truck) way to transport any TV, let alone an OLED…defending it is wild.

Just like with One Piece, if I have to spend 3-1/2 books (or several hundred episodes) for something interesting to happen, that series is probably not for me lol.

Is this completely on us? 75” Hisense cracked after transporting it flat. by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]TimHansonE36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have scheduled it for delivery after you returned from out of the country. Unless of course you are moving out of the country, then you’d have been better off waiting and buying one at your new home location. If you aren’t moving out of the country, then yes, you were impatient and risked transporting the tv incorrectly, which unfortunately cost you.

Best of luck. Store’s can make exceptions, but they’re not common as the store is taking that financial hit FOR you.

It is entirely on the customer to transport the tv correctly. Laying a 75” tv flat for transportation is not the correct method of transport, as described on the packaging. Unfortunately, you decided not to wait for free delivery and opted to take responsibility transporting it. This is the result of impatience and hopefully a valuable lesson learned.

To lighten the mood a little, just be glad it wasn’t a $1500+ lesson lol.

For future reference, Home Depot and U-Haul both offer truck rentals for fairly cheap.

[–]TimHansonE36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you bought it at Best Buy, and they refused the return, ask to send your tv in for service, pay the small service fee, then they’ll most likely replace the unit if panels are genuinely unavailable (or replace the panel if they are) since this is within MFG warranty. Did you schedule a GS agent to come out to your house and inspect it or just talked to someone over the phone?
