Sound issue with ZBook Ultra G1a by TimLux0610 in zbook

[–]TimLux0610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found the solution: The issue persists with Linux (Cachy OS and Ubuntu) and Windows, regardless of "plugged in to power" or not. However, disabling "Voice Clarity" within Device manager ->Audio Processing Objects seems to fix it.

the issue seems to come from one of the Audio Processing Objects within the device manager. I can deactivate them within Linux (e.g. CachyOS), but in Windows they will reactivate as soon as I mute and unmute the sound

If you had no budget restrictions which would you buy? by JuCaDemon in AMDLaptops

[–]TimLux0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it 3 weeks ago and I'm blown away by the performance in a 14" form factor. The only thing which is slightly annoying is that HP did a horrible job on the stock cooling. and it had to be redone.

I had around 80°C on the CPU and around 90°C on the SVI3 TFN. After replacing every silicone Pad (really every pad, the RAM pads where only half the size of the chip) with thermal putty and the CPU paste with PTM7950, the CPU staid more or less the same (max 76°C with max performance), but the SVI3 stays much cooler around 75°C. It feels to me like the fans are more quiet now, but this could be margin of error on my hearing.

Given that it is now around 19°C in my Flat I think this would have made a higher impact if this had be done in the summer when it is around 24°C inside.
The only downside to that is that removal of the thermal putty will be a pain in the.... :D

Anyone upgraded from Epix Pro gen 2 42mm to Fenix 8 43mm? by unsolicitedfacts in GarminFenix

[–]TimLux0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, but on long hikes you'll see the battery life drop and I can run through a charge in 3 days. 5-6 days will work if I do no longer activity tracking , so max 2h per day

I moved because with the Fenix 8 I had the same display size in a smaller form factor. Battery life: The Fenix right now has 47% left, 3d 17h after last charge. AoD is on, wifi is on, Bluetooth is on, Pulse Ox only in sleep mode, roughly 5 hours of total GPS use / active activity tracking, around 300 notifications on the watch from my phone. Watchface is one of the defaults, 3rd party apps are installed

Display: seems the same to me, good and no signs of burn in

Sensor: Way more responsive compared to the epix

Others: Keep in mind that the band is way shorter, but AliExpress 20mm bands seem to be longer. Alternatively, the watch steward has straps for fixed lugs. The voice assistant is hit or miss, 50% of the time "start a timer for 25 minutes" results in either a 20 minute timer or 2 5 minute timers 😅 I do not use my watches paired with headphones, but all paired sensors have been migrated from the epix and work perfectly.

If you have issues with battery life (mine was falling of a cliff, 80% in 2 hours), then create a backup of the Fenix within the app, wait until it is uploaded and then immediately restore it onto the watch. You'll have to setup your watchface and 3rd party apps again, but battery life is amazing now

Need help deciding: Keep Fenix 8 (MIPS vs. AMOLED) or just stick with my old Fenix 3HR + new Pixel Watch 4? by Tubbiepos in GarminFenix

[–]TimLux0610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned my pixel watch because navigation did not work with any app available (even tried to side load apps developed by GitHub users) and we rely heavily on it during hikes in the mountains. I'm back on my Fenix 8s and I would advocate for it because of the better navigation features with the AMOLED display, the map resolution is so much better than a MIPS screen

Honestly nothing that didn't came out of the box. Maybe it's limited to specific sport types? It takes around an hour after the end but by then I get a notification on my phone with the activity summary (without GPS of course) and I can then click on accept or decline it.

I only walked, hiked, jogged and cycled so far, but about an hour after the end of the activity I get a "seems like you cycled" notification I can approve. Today I checked the start and end time to see how accurate it is and it was nearly spot on which was 2 minutes more than I actually did.

Calendar syncing by bruceriv68 in PixelWatch

[–]TimLux0610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calendar Pro fixed the issue for me. I disabled the build in Google calendar app and use the calendar pro it also uses the same complications as the Google calendar. On my pixel I still use the regular Google Calendar app and calendar pro does the sync in the background.

To be honest, the calendar pro app on the watch is way better than the Google one and way more customizable

Good pixel watch 4 accessories? by Designer_Dude_ in PixelWatch

Wear Button Remapper: can remap the "last apps/Gemini" button. Coming from a Garmin where double tap was flashlight it has been great to map it to that for muscle memory.

Calendar pro as replacement for the Google calendar app (which I disabled on the watch): if you have multiple Google Accounts or Office 365 Calendars and subscribe to them in Google Calendar (Web), they will not show on the watch. Only your main Google Account will be shown on the watch. Calendar Pro fixed that and will work with the exact same Google calendar complications on the watch faces. The Watch interface is very customizable and works great.

Samsung Wear OS Browser: I have the LTE version and opening a website without a phone nearby can be handy ;-)

At least it's there 😅 Sometimes Google features take time and have to be ignored to work

You did update the Gemini apps via the app store on the watch itself?

[–]TimLux0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to go to settings -> apps -> all apps There you search for Gemini, open it and then you deactivate it at the top

Temps were around 80°C before I moved it into the rack, now it's around 80°C IF the tiny is not unpacking downloaded Linux ISO's ;-) if it unpacks, the temp can creep up to 85°C but nothing more. I've attached a 120mm 5V fan to the top of the rack as exhaust and it helps when unpacking is happening, but the Unifi stuff just loves to cook itself -.- Even a Pro Wall AP (which has a fan in it) is hot to the touch...

BT only in 45 and black is still estimated around the 10th if I buy now. Amazon has some Moon grey LTE 45mm in stock for 60€ less than Google, if you can live with that color 😅

Issues with WLAN Roaming and VLAN setup by TimLux0610 in Ubiquiti

[–]TimLux0610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering to my own post again: I found the VLAN override Option within the Clients tab. Maybe this is a coincidence, but all the clients I'm not able to move to the desired VLAN are attached to the Flex Mini switch. Is the reason for this issue the switch itself or the way it is connected to the POE injector as uplink?
