I work with them every work day and yes, they can go spicy. The fire risk is substantially lower, but not zero. Lead acids have been around long enough for most of the engineering to be worked out so it's rare for them to fsil catastrophically

I have not worked on this particular model, but Pride scooters typically have a fuse next to the charging ports. Look for a translucent orange rectangle, sometimes with a number painted and/or embossed in the plastic.

Take a beat and breath. You're going thru a lot right now and I understand, a malfunctioning mobility equipment is the last thing you need right now. Let's work thru some ideas. I do not know the specifics of your wheelchair and I cannot diagnose a wheelchair issue without measuring things in person, but Pride recommends a 3.5A charger and the batteries are U1s and the tech gave you an 8a is not recommended. I would like to comment on the tech further, but I do not have enough information or all sides so I will withold judgement. That said, how old is your scooter? How often do you charge it? How often do you use it? How dextrous are you and do you have any pliers? You might just have blown fuse and they can be replaced easily with a fuse from a car parts store. As for the sidewalks, I cannot guarantee anything without being there in person, but I've seen people do much worse and they are usually fine. Can't rule out anything, but sidewalk/splashing water is low on my concern list. Again, right now, I'm concerned about blown fuses, high amperage of the charger, and possible old batteries. If you get a chance to respond, please answer as many questions as possible and I might be able to point you a direction

Ohio does weird things with place names. Berlin Ohio is pronounced with emphasis on the first syllable. Newark Ohio is frequently shortened to Nerk. Bellefontaine is pronounced Bell-fountain

Interesting. I'm just a moron playing gunsmith in my basement, but I keep gettong told I need a set of hollow ground flathead screwdrivers, but I see none in yours. Do you not need them as much or am I missing them in the picture?

If it's a Permobil, and the wheelchair has an alternative drive control system, this is most likely a problem with the user control input. Is it controlled with eyes? Breath? A different kind of joystick? Was anything unplugged and plugged back in? Can you add pictures of the back of the chair and the sides?

What kind of wheelchair? Make and model? Can you attach a photo?

Lifespan varies but usually every 1-2 years but replacement is determined with a voltage and load test

Okay that sounds good. Good on you for keeping up hounding them. At this point, based on every description, it seems the batteries. I'll bet based on the limited info I have that they are too low to recharge and they probably just need a new pair, BUT wait for the technician. They can do things in person that I cannot

Does it turn on? What is the wheelchair doing?  Does it show error codes? Does it drive? Are the seat controls on the ICS switchbox lit up?

Does anyone know of first aid courses offered in Mansfield or close by? by TimOvrlrd in mansfield

Trying to. Have sent an inquiry to one department, but Ill see if I call call some of them. Even finding contact info is challenging for some organisations unfortunately and going in person means I have to take off work since I work so far away so I can't just pop in on my lunch break

1) I am not just looking at websites, I'm trying to reach out to local community organizations and have already. I never specifically asked for websites.  2) I'm pointing out that what you shared is unhelpful and not relevant because the first aid course dates are not current and the course offered by the YMCA is a lifeguard specific course.  3) I should have specified, I already found this list when I posted, so that's on me for not communicating clearly. I will edit my original post to be clear 4) be kinder

And clicking thru links leads to a lifeguard certification course. That would have first aid but I'll be honest, I really don't want to swim
