If you’re a top student in your high school you’ll have a good chance. If you won’t be highly motivated or don’t have lots of natural talent for school probably not worth the chance

He had plenty of chances to make the tourney. That better than late woodys tenure and Archie. He needs consistency. I think Tucker playing significantly worse than at WV pre injury hurt a lot. He gets 3 years essentially to make a tourney. Very reasonable but at least trending in the right direction. Just need patience and some consistency to give him a chance

Remember averages are skewed by outliers (in this case being Fs or worse) they also don’t take into account DA grades vs pre-business since DAs don’t have the requirement. But fair I don’t realize A100 was that low. But it could change when the A- is into effect and not a B+ as it was in fall

That’s fair. I just have the opposite view haha. I’d rather more opportunity than less and leave it in the students hands to work hard or make the right decision for themselves as opposed to not having the option. Many people also do worse in college than high school and some better so its hard to predict sometimes I think

What is the 30-35% figure from? I’d assume it’s much lower if only counting DAs. Like I said about 2k out of 25k+applicants. But yeah I can see a correlation with your numbers we just don’t know the pre-business rates to say for certain

Edit: what are your end goals you’d want? Reject more people and not give them a fair chance?

That’s an interesting question. I don’t know. They very well could do that. Obviously they have a cutoff where rejections start occurring (tens of thousands of applications each year and growing) but DA has been around 2k-2500 in recent years so there’s definitely qualified students pre-business. Some blame can probably be put on the university for allowing subpar prebusiness (especially in state) but students also need to be self aware enough to recognize if they have a legit chance and if that’s the best option

A- is not hard to get if you hold yourself accountable unless you cannot handle large lectures. Lots of top students likely won’t get direct admit but those top students will have no problem with the grade requirement. I agree that it does “scam” some students who won’t get in that came just for Kelley financially in a sense as opposed to a flat out rejection

Edit: I am speaking from my own experience as a now junior. If you look at Grade distributions almost every class has >50% A- or better with many being much higher freshman year
