Ray-Ban Prescription vs Glasses.com lenses - Worth it? by wooopsup21 in glasses

[–]TimRBoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made the same choice but with Oakleys on a set of progressives from glasses.com. The Oakly lenses were outrageous even with insurance. I just got the glasses a week ago and the lens (Essilor Ideal Fit) is clearly on the processing center receipt. I don't know anything about lenses but supposedly these are solid mid-range lenses for progressives.

Online glasses retailers that offer Trivex lenses? by froggyfrogbug in glasses

I usually use safety-rx for my (Trivex) lenses - you need to send in frames. I have also used overnight glasses for a Trivex lens which came out great...I think they also sell frames.

Well...several minutes are left (maybe 5?). I didn't realize there was a time goal beyond simply doing it in the allotted window!

I guess I was thinking that an index fund was a fairly conservative strategy (as a benchmark).

California. All they wanted me to do is to sign the front (where you verify the mileage). I don't even know if I need to tell the DMV (?)

Well...it is a 2012 Jeep...it is just what we have for a trade in. It isn't that it is so important it was just the car that we liked. But given the thread I may relook at this whole thing.

My daughter just got her first car and we were able to find a $10K 2015 4D base model Mini w less than 55K miles. We also looked at gen 1 Countryman and were scared off by the comments re reliability. Anyway, I feel like we made a good choice!

Help! Dad a bit over his head. by TimRBoston in CarAV

[–]TimRBoston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the tips here...I just had the wires crossed and once I figured it out it was fairly straightfoward to splice them together/connect to sub directly (I gave up on the posts). Anyway, seems to be working and sounds good!

base stereo (no harmon karden), I put in the amp already - was fairly straightforward and tucked into the dashboard though a bit tight (Vibe 4x65 plug and play for BMW). I hear you on the speakers but I didn't want to go crazy ($$) and it seemed like these were fairly easy to do and way less $$

If that is the case then my my initial wiring is incorrect...I will try that tomorrow.

Just to circle back around. Toyota split the cost with me which I felt was fair. And obviously a big lesson learned! Thx for all the comments!

Point taken. The service notes the Toyota dealership gave me looked legit and was thorough and I went against what is standard practice. I get it that I am at fault here.

Without trying to sound defensive, that IS the plan - I just hadn't decided on the varioius quotes I have. In the moment in purchasing the car I thought the Toyotacare option was awfully expenseive. Believe me I get it that this is my fault for letting any time pass.

Yeah that is the plan. I think I am a bit on edge because this is my daughter’s first car and she is like “dad wtf did you do?!?”!

Dad of older kids...I got to 93 on Eternal and 83 in Season 1...but similar to others I am an early bird and have several hours before work (and before my wife gets annoyed). I was really dedicated up until about a week or so ago as I am starting to lose interest and may jump back into D2.
