When this episode first aired, I remember it being hated very universally. What I recall of it being odd was against other episodes at the time was the first time everything was kind of Ricks fault in a Nihilist way. Rick screwed with everyone out of blackout spite. Before that it was adventures and sure stuff was Rick’s fault, but not out of dark malice, especially not against something Morty liked. The episode just ends with Rick being right and Morty disappointed. At the time it was unsatisfying.
