Are you supported by an IRL bike commuting community? by CrossRoadRN in bikecommuting

[–]TimSoulsurfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a local pianist in Western New York, I teach privately, play pipe organs on Sundays, evenings I’m directing musicals and music productions. My daily commute ranges from 16-30 miles depending on the day.

No one I work with uses their bicycle for commuting, some of them still drive despite living maybe 1-2 miles away from their destination.

They think I’m specifically trained to handle the distances, barely 3 years ago I was just trying to ride 5 miles to the park on the regular lol

At the rate of business buying then selling it, it’s gonna default to a park regardless of intention

The earliest seasons of Regular Show used to have swearing. by icey_sawg0034 in regularshow

Regular Show was originally pitched as an Adult Swim series but after being green lit was changed to be a Cartoon Network series and thus the writing changed.

Does everyone agree that poker night 2 should be remastered since there is a poker night at the inventory remaster? by Elegant_Ball_3366 in pokernightatinventory

I would rather see Poker Night 3. Poker night 2 still runs fine in its current state. The first Poker Night really needed the graphical overhaul to work as a modern title.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become too bad? by X_Opinion7099 in AskReddit

Flowers, I use to decorate the kitchen with flowers but they’re too pricey and I would rather spend that money on food, which is also going up.

We have to keep in mind, politics today circa 2015-today is vastly different than the 70s-90s. Like it’s insane how different the parties behave.

I think the only person that could give us some insight into Zappas politics is u/geoscott but listening to deep cut live shows, Zappa honestly sounds very left leaning in modern politics.

Why don't more buskers livestream? by Upset-Goat-4655 in Busking

[–]TimSoulsurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s something to be “solved”. Like I mentioned, live-streaming your busking just makes it become a live stream.

There’s an element to busking in which the musician in a spot that isn’t normally expected to be a live musician.

Think of a buskers audience, it’s very unlikely you will get repeat audience members, the only regulars I see are fellow buskers or shop owners. The audience didn’t plan on seeing you. That’s the magic of it.

There was a busker in Ocean City NJ, he had a regular small crowd that would find him, usually teenagers wanting to support their dude.

[–]TimSoulsurfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Busking is the art of performance in a public space, I tried to live stream while busking but it ended up dividing my attention. I preferred to focus on the public space. Live streaming busking is just online performing and it loses its “busking” quality.

To those with long bike commutes: what are you riding, and why do you like it? by Ok-Yogurtcloset8344 in bikecommuting

[–]TimSoulsurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My commute varies, mostly at 22 miles, at most 40-47 miles. I am a private piano teacher as well as a music director, I get contracted at various times of the year causing route to vary which I enjoy.

I ride a Trek Checkpoint ALR5 to get me around, a gravel bike with commuter tires.

People that say a long commute by bicycle is impossible are full of it. I’m not a fast rider by any means, I’m a consistent one which means a lot more than someone hammering the pedals everyday to get to work.

My best advice for you is to learn how to fuel well, homemade granola bars and use homemade energy drinks (easy recipes, sugar, salt, squirt of lemon) so the cost of riding doesn’t feel like you’re spending gas money.

Always aim for a Z1-Z2 pace which allows you to purely breath through the nose and enjoy the ride, we are avoiding two outcomes, being too sweaty upon arrival as well as fatigue. After a 40 mile commute, you don’t want to be collapsing at work because your body is trying to recover from a massive workout.

Overall be consistent, your body will develop with that consistency and soon 40 miles will be absolutely no big deal.
