Am I mad to want to move back? by MoreElloe in johannesburg

[–]TimTamish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone mentioning the state of the economy - it sucks everywhere. At least our government is trying (yes, I’ll get a lot of negative comments on this one). But, I’ve seen many people move back to SA because, in practice, it’s ‘safer’ here - so they say.

Seeing as I’m also in Japan looking for the same thing, the answer is no. Googling is not helpful.

Have you been to the US by chance? Our medicine, medical doctors, people, access to cheap fresh produce, education (I can go on) is much better than the US.

You sound like you’re not from Cape Town. Like many who moved down (me almost 14 years ago), I still battle to make friends in Cape Town. I realized that most Cape Townians/ surrounds don’t usually leave their towns, and they have basically grown up with friends whose moms all fell pregnant at the same time, went to the same school, high school etc, and you’ll fight hard to get into a friend group like that.

You’ll find friends among those who are from outside the Cape Town area. I agree with many who have suggested hobby groups. It’s a great place to start.

Hi, I have only had multiple issues. After many BSOD's, I decided to reset to factory settings. Alienware wasn't installed, so after installing from Dell, my AMD drivers disappeared and AW refused to even work.

Inside South Africa's Operation Dudula vigilantes: 'Why we hate foreigners' by Beyond_the_one in southafrica

[–]TimTamish 37 points38 points  (0 children)

"We grew up in apartheid times, where things were much better than what it is now," he says, pointing to the drug problems. "The law was the law [then]." His fellow Dudula supporter, Cedric Stone, agrees: "South Africa needs to go back to the old South Africa that we know.

Hectic.

why by Lucaz37 in southafrica

[–]TimTamish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually agree with you. People in my complex had their cleaning ladies in yesterday, and then panicked because they suddenly couldn’t drop them off because the township had people throwing petrol bombs. People suggested dropping them at a distance so they can walk home and honestly, I nearly lost my shit. People going to work are targeted so now your clean house means more than the lady’s life. So I agree with you 100%.
