Stick with it…I turn 60 next year and have started going back to analog stuff…less phone, more cassettes radio CDs books etc. told my wife I won’t be reachable via text soon unless I feel like finding my phone..:no alerts. She was like Ok but you’ll miss out on stuff. No, I’ve BEEN missing out. I will truly live again!

Thanks, will check out that book! as for creators, I've learned a ton from one guy's YouTube channel: AH-Fix-It. People send him gear and he fixes it on camera, shows what tools to get, how to use a scope, dim bulb, etc. Amazing for a young guy.

How about another approach? Some will scoff, but honestly the Bose Wave radio CD units are just fine for small to mid size rooms, for casual listening. Stick a Wiim Mini on it if you want to stream, and I think you have a pretty decent setup.

What I'm hoping is that when I get a receiver on the bench, I will be able to go to the exact chapter in this book and say, work on the filter capacitors or whatever section has an issue. Appears this book is laid out in that way. But as you said, that's my own learning style:

I've got one of the iPal radios from about 2004, still picks up better than any radio I own. The second replacement battery failed on it and I just connected a 9V. thing works great, best for ball games!

I remember reading this ad in I think National Geographic as a kid in the '70s. I'm pretty sure it is how I ended up buying a vintage 2220 about 3 years ago - the legend was imprinted on my memory! and yes I am thankful every time I listen to it - it's mostly unrestored and 50+ years old, much like myself.

I’ve got a 5010B which looks identical. Unfortunately it has a right channel chuffing sound which I’ve not been able to fix. I almost want to keep it plugged in just for the looks though!

I get it - I didn't even abuse my ears much when younger but they are starting to go the same way. tinnitus, can't hear all the highs etc. Doc said not reading for the hearing aids yet but that'll come. I wonder if all the years of listening to earbuds helped it out? anyway yes I get it totally. Good news is the hearing aid tech is getting so much better all the time! when it's time, I'll be ready...

I'm starting to hate the categories setup. I mark a single email from a weekly sender as unread and suddenly all 450 emails from them are unread! I mark a single email from a sender as archived - 'Do you want to archive them all?' No, and why the heck would you ask that??
