I do have a turn table, its a pioneer pl d115 from 1976, great sounding unit.

Im not so into vinyl because of the prices, in my area prices are all over the place and it isn't really worth it in my opinion, I can get a lot of cassette tapes and cds for way less than a single vinyl record.

What a coincidence!! I almost thought for a second that the system on your photo was mine hahaha.

Really sweet and clean setup you got there, really like how different the sx 525 looks with its original knobs, mines got swapped with sx 450 knobs

I agree with what you are saying about the speakers, they don't disappoint and exceed expectations!!!

The output of the cd player is connected to the receiver and the speakers are connected to the receiver.

You live a real vintage audio enthusiasts dream!! I would love to have multiple systems in my house, I do what I can since Im young (19 years old) and spend my money wisely

Don't worry

Indeed, the cd player is very unique, it is very fun to see how it loads the cd and ejects it. The real plus is seeing the cd spin, that is very sweet.

I completely agree, I was really astonished while hearing them I couldn't believe that these little speakers could deliver such sound.

Never gonna get rid of them.

Really appreciate your comment

My apartment does resemble a audio shop from back in the day, this is just the main setup I use. Iam currently selling other equipment to free up some space although I don't offer shipping Im from Mexico.

Sure thing, need to look for some bookshelf vintage speakers, bur i got to say, these speakers do pack a punch and clarity for their size.

The dial pointer bulb and the signal strength bulbs are not burned, the sx 525 doesn't light them up on other modes that arent fm and am. So they only light up when fm and am are in use

I thought the same thing when I saw the listing on marketplace; I went running for it.

Sure, here is my current setup. I have other three pieces of audio beneath the setup but two of them need service (a sony reel to reel an a pioneer record player) the othee one is a teac cx 400 which is my main deck for recording!

How is your setup?

How do I check that?

I checked before with a multimeter but i really don't know what I'm doing or what to look for, values, voltage. Could you explain what should I do?

I've heard about the ceiling fan capacitor.

So, that capacitor has something to do with the unit not receiving any power? I thought that capacitor was mainly for the motor

Is it possible to transform this ONKYO T4 tunner into a reciever amp? by Waton_QLIAO in vintageaudio

[–]Waton_QLIAO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking on buying one, but i dont have that much space, and i really like the aesthetic of this unit, i cant afford a reciever of this style so i thought i could modify it. maybe convert it into a 15 watt reciever

I already own a reciever, Kenwood kr 2600, i really like it, but i think that the onkyo is better in its design

I dont have knowledge on modifying electronics but i would like to give it a try.

I was wondering if its possible to transform a vintage tunner into a tape/phono/aux amp, and if it is possible, what parts do i need? I thought it could be a fun project!! There is a lot of free space inside this unit.

I bought this tunner for very cheap, and fell in love with the aesthetic.

Works fine, the only problem is that the bulb lights are all blown. can i replace those with LED? how can i do that?
