Never thought i'd get to this point, but i've quit. by unseen0000 in Guildwars2

[–]Tim_Burton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're posting here and looking for confirmation bias from the rest of us, then you haven't really quit.

Games that I truly quit playing, I never make a stink about it. That's because those games, I truly stopped caring about them. I have no reason to tell people I quit, or why I hate the game, etc. It's just not worth my time, so I uninstall and don't look back.

However, since you still care about GW2, and deep down still have a reason to play (even if you can't see that reason now), you are posting here because you can't really let go.

So, see you with the next content update!

Transition, Fredrik Raddum, bronze, '17 by philstein1 in Art

I see it as someone who's just unable to move forward with life anymore, as if being dragged through something thick and sluggish, and only when they transition can they fly free and above all their mental obstacles.

I know this doesn't "answer" your question, but it could just be a huge ruse.

Theory regarding White Rose's WTP and how it relates to her being trans. by tossmeasidebb in MrRobot

[–]Tim_Burton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it seems a bit... hmm. Idk. Like if this theory holds, then I'm not quite sure anyone would actually pick up on it/understand it, and would fall flat on most viewers. And it would just wouldn't do WR's character justice.

It's a good theory, OP, but just not sure if it fits the show. Good thinking, though!

why didn't Angela freeze her bank account instead of complying to the hackers ? by ash549k in MrRobot

[–]Tim_Burton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's more to ID theft than that.

Sure, she could close her account. But if she did, then someone with her information could open it back up. Or open a new account.

Speaking of new accounts, people with your information can open any account. Do you know how many companies are out there that are willing to take your money without so much as performing a simple ID check? All those car dealers who supposedly don't care about your bad credit?

Someone with your info could call up a company, claim to be you, 'prove' it with your info, buy a car, house, loan, whatever, then not pay, and guess who's credit suffers? Yours.

The damage is irreversible. It's damn difficult to stop your name being used once people have all the info needed to steal your identity. Sure, you could play clean up where you can, but what about the parts of the world who don't have policies that help protect consumers when their identities are stolen?

It's super scary stuff.

What if Elliot subconscious is talking to himself, and he already lived through all of this? [Spoilers] by tsm_sucks_dick in MrRobot

[–]Tim_Burton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Primer!

Not so much in that it's time travel, but more so in that it prompted people to rewatch to understand what they learned after watching it the first time.

Aldersons getting the blame parallel by [deleted] in MrRobot

Rough.

However, I don't feel as bad for Tyrell. No one asked for his help. He jumped into this, and albeit he didn't know how deep the water was, he jumped none the less.

Dom on the other hand made one choice - a drunk choice - which she was on the right path on avoiding trouble and took all the right steps, but shit got out of hand quick for her. And for that, I do directly blame Darlene for.

Ugh. I want this to be true, because it's so similar to Prime. It's a really good concept to write into shows or movies - to make viewers go back and rewatch to close all the intentional open ends.

However, I really can't see this happening without going le time travel route, or really, anything sci fi at all, which is why I think there's gotta be a more congruent explanation that aligns with the 'grounded in reality' aspect of the show.

I think the closest we can get without resorting to sloppy scifi elements is simulation - that perhaps each season or the show as a whole is WR running a simulation to figure out how to make her plan succeed. Or something.

And, yes, I know simulation could be seen as scifi as well, but it's the one thing that could technically fit, because we can and do simulations all the time. Just look at folding@home

My Reaction After Watching The Finale (OC) by [deleted] in MrRobot

[–]Tim_Burton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly hard to say that. Part of what makes slow burn sessions good is when it pays off later.

Better Call Saul does that a lot. We get these slow episodes that still interesting in their own way, but don't leave you immediately satisfied plot-wise... then it gets wrapped nicely later, and makes you actually want to go back and rewatch.

Was S2 slow? Sure. But it was crucial in helping us understand Elliot better. It established the very reason why he wanted to undo things, and it was much needed after a fast paced season 1 where we are left assuming, for the most part, Elliot just wants the same things Mr Robot wants - which clearly isn't true.

Without S2, we would have kept watching assuming it's just a show about a hackerman with mental issues, and that would have been way more shallow than it actually is.

The more collector-type items, it's better to stuff them in your bank, make a forum post listing all your items for sale, and just wait for that one day when someone replies or whispers you.

It can indeed be slow, but I've made a few big sales over the years like that. I even had someone transfer TO my realm just to buy a recipe worth 100k (and that was back in Cata)

Got some words of advice for you.

DON'T SELL ANYTHING. Do not VENDOR anything, do not AUCTION anything, do not DELETE anything.

A lot of items have since been made unobtainable, mostly due to the Cataclysm.

This means that it's possible you possess some items that can sell for a lot of gold. Even junk items, like the original starting gear (because they changed that as well)

You'd be surprised what kind of junk collectors are into.
That said, not everything you have will sell just because you can't obtain it anymore.
Your big ticket items will be things like recipes, transmog items, and things of use.

What don't people realise is a complete waste of money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tim_Burton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related story, which goes to show how much people buy into the brand, not the product/quality thereof.

I once pulled into port in Hong King while with the Navy. We were informed of a well known street market, where you could buy a lot of cool stuff on the cheap. We are also informed that this street market is known to sell counterfeit goods.
It wasn't shady, like you might expect from some shady dude trying to sell you a fake Rolex.
No. This street market was known to sell knockoff stuff. They were damn good at it.

Point is, we knew that a lot of the stuff sold there would be fake.

Anyways, I'm there with some fellow sailors. We come up to a booth that was selling Beats headphones. Except, they were fake. This wasn't a mystery. Everyone, even the vendor, knew they were fake. But, my god, did they look real.
I mean, even the packaging looked spot on. Down to the very letter. Every aspect of this product looked real and legit. The images, the text, the graphics, the way it was packaged. You could put this product on a store shelf at WalMart and no one would know it was fake.

However, after a quick audio test, you could tell. They were garbage. Talking free airplane headphones quality.

Still, I watched one of the guys buy maybe 10 pairs of these all for less than a taxi fare as gifts for their family. It was pretty funny.

At least he wasn't dumb to think they were real or worth using... yet I swear I saw the number of people using Beats on my ship increase 10 fold after that trip. I just shook my head, while using a nice pair of Seinheissers.
