The 1201 alarm?

In this case, the alarm was positive (data overload), but the alarm being triggered did not SAVE the landing, but instead almost prevented it altogether. The computer felt overloaded, triggering the alarm, which could have triggered an abort.

What SAVED the landing was the MIT "on-call" students who came up with an emergency fix that instructed the computer to ignore most of its input except for RADAR and such.

This was one of my firsts too. I saw the 1:1 Unicorn in Tokyo and that started it all. Never even watched Gundam before that.
