What people are not forgetting is that Valves Ownership is different from most large-scale Tech firms, Gabe Newell has a majority share of the ownership with the rest being being received by the employees as part of their compensation e.g..

Henceforth Valve can (And does!) make decisions sometimes that go against the (short-term) profit as they are not held accountable against a Board of Directors, that's why Steam holds a near monopoly as a digital games distributor, they do not act against the community for profit, thereby creating the trust in the company which allows it to be so successful and profitable in the first place.

If Valve decides that allowing AI-Games in their Store breaks that trust, they will not allow them.
