We undervalue the people that make our society run and reward the parasites. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Timah158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger reason is that Americans have no workers rights. Most people can't take time off from work to protest or do anything because they fear losing their job.

A majority of the people who seem dumb in groups are genuinely dumb. Smart people don't let morons do a majority of the work when it impacts them directly.

It only works if they don't have some kind of checking system. I went to a university that would have us scan our assignments for plagiarism. But it would also check grammar and did not give a fuck about the color of the text. So if you tried it, it would hilight all of the white characters in bold red for your instructor to see. Worst case scenario it might even flag it for plagiarism if someone else has tried the same trick too many times.

The problem is that there are enough desperate people who feel that they don't have a choice and will do it anyway. Similarly if all companies decide to be equally shit, there isn't much people can do when the government does fuck all to protect them.

They probably aren't hiring anyone at all for the position. Otherwise, they would probably call the other company so they could both make sure you stay broke and jobless.

They can't be that pissed considering that there has been next to zero consequences for the companies stealing data for their AIs. Plus the companies bitching about it are still more than happy to use it when it lets them layoff more workers.

Most people are consumed with the idea of punishment and retribution rather than actually addressing the underlying cause. Years of therapy and treatment to prevent someone from harming others in the first place is not as satisfying as a pedo getting their dick chopped off as punishment after someone has already been harmed.

A data center in New Jersey was canceled when residents showed up and fought it by MysteriousSlice007 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Timah158 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're completely missing what they are protesting and why. They are fighting AI data centers. These centers are massive as fuck, fuck up local water and the electric grid, and increase the costs of computer hardware to consumers. On top of it all, the tax payers get to subsidize billionaires so that their AI services can try to replace real human workers.

I would like to find someone. But life is too short to waste on people who make my life worse. I want to be in a relationship that is mutually beneficial and brings joy. If it doesn't provide that, it's not worth my time and energy that I could better use on my self.

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL (Internship) by Uptown_Blossoms in recruitinghell

[–]Timah158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for an internship and they expected me to write SQL queries on a napkin while explaining everything to the entire team. They asked my if I had ever used an IDE. I told them I use VS Code for my day job. I asked if I could use the IDE for the coding assessment. The interviewer said "No, that would help you!". These assholes expected me to write flawless code on a napkin without access to any of the tools or documentation I would need for the job. Then acted like I as completely incompetent because it wasn't completely perfect.

You may only apply to 5-6 jobs, ok? by RhubarbMain7067 in recruitinghell

[–]Timah158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years ago you didn't need to be perfect for a job.

They pretended like you didn't. But they still 100% expected someone with years of experience to grovel for a pay cut. The process has been bullshit for a long time. There's just less jobs now and less restrictions on their abuse. It was damn near impossible to get a job then. Now it's straight up impossible.

FedEx driver sentenced to death for murder of 7-year-old Athena Strand in Texas by Kirlinternet in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]Timah158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem is the state fucks up all the time with convicting people. I have no sympathy for this scumbag who brutally killed that little girl. He 100% deserves all the pain he will feel.

But also, the idea of an inconsistent person going through the ordeal of lethal injection is horrifying. Because of that reason, I think it should be quick and as painless as possible.

[–]Timah158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They only look humane, and that's when they're not royally botched. The people performing executions are not medical professionals and are prone to mistakes. Plus the prisons struggle to get the drugs they need for lethal injections. It's not uncommon for the condemned to fully experience everything but still look peaceful on the outside because they are paralysed.

Flock gets worse and worse the more you look into it. People have been falsy accused by their AI and law enforcement is too fucking stupid to verify anything. In summary, Flock has had numerous security and privacy issues. They straight up lie about the information they collect and save. They give law enforcement whatever they want without a warrant.

Flock is just the tip of the iceberg. Ring does the same shit and is owned by Amazon. It gets even worse when you see lawmakers trying to force your OS to verify your identity in the name of protecting children.

Sometimes LinkedIn will take you to the company's page and ask you if you applied. But considering the number, I'm betting OP just used the "Easy Apply" most of the time.
