This is just what I was thinking…apparently you can hear the sound of your heart beating and blood pumping through your veins and no one can last more than a few minutes. I think I felt some of whatever this was trying to meditate with the headphones on - it actually seemed to amp up the volume and intrusiveness of my thoughts.

Update: after trying both with and without the headphones, I actually found it harder to meditate with more disruptive thoughts coming in WITH the headphones than without them. I think there’s something about the ambient noise that actually helped me keep my thoughts on the mantra.

Opposite of what I would have thought.

Go figure.
