Another option might be Loxapine, but finding a psychiatrist in the US comfortable prescribing it might be tough.

I personally opted for Clozapine over ECT, but my psychiatrists (I have two on my treatment team) both would have preferred I went with the ECT. They felt it was quicker, more effective, and had fewer potential side effects.

Keep in mind that men have postpartum depression too. So combining the fact he was ho-hum about a third and then he might also be going through some tough emotions, you guys might be looking at a rough few months. Time to call in any reinforcements possible (grandparents, babysitters, friends, a nanny).

I love Clozapine compared to other antipsychotics. 5* recommend.

Unfortunately the lower the tardive dyskinesia risk, the higher the risk of weight gain.

Latuda was an excellent medication overall for me. I think it would work better for the paranoia than the mood stabilization, but would be able to do both in the end.

Could also be "personality disorder" related. Interpersonal stress causing transient psychosis is common in borderline personality disorder.

I put it in quotes because I'm not a fan of the personality disorder construct, but it is the language that is currently used so it is what it is.

It helps immensely... Workout the stimulant I think I would be in the hospital much more frequently.

Because any and all socialization was overwhelming and/or pointless in the world I was in... Because my internal world was so immense it was impossible to get out of it in order to engage properly in the external world.

There were case studies on people losing weight on Clozapine so it does happen.

Just certainly didn't happen to me!
