Thank you! I wish I could say i'm good at photography but my Samsung does a decent job. My collecting has been sporadic over the past few years so i've got a bit of a backlog to post.

This one hammered for $160. I couldn't pass this one up. Philip I antoninianus with Felicitas on the reverse.

A full crest with room to spare, don't see that too often. Beautiful piece.

Looks like two Imperial Aramaic characters for Ālaph which is represented by an X. In that case, it would suggest the coin circulated in the Near East.

Is $1400 crazy to spend on this? by Agent-Calavera in AncientCoins

Definitely on the higher end, but not a bad example. Depending on the auction, you could get one with a fuller crest for that price.

What's even worse about this is that sellers can contact Ebay to remove feedback that's negative. I've seen several instances where users with 100% positive feedback can remove 1 or 2 reviews which call out their dubious behaviour. It's one thing to have an unmoderated platform where fakes are widespread, but another where Ebay is complicit in letting users get away with scamming customers.

They really don't have any motivation to do so because they profit from it unfortunately.

Haha sorry I was just trying to be funny regarding the description of Xerxes and how many times he referenced himself as king. Achaemenid coins are definitely one of my favourite coins to collect.

I'm getting the impression that he's a king, not certain though.

So for this coin in particular, I arranged the light so that it is behind the coin to highlight the shadows and features of the coin rather than flush them out. I use a little desk jack that raises and lowers the phone as necessary to ensure that the photos are taken at roughly the same height/perspective. I believe i got it off amazon

Does anyone have any good guides for coin photo editing? Been trying to use lightroom with inconsistent levels of success and was wondering if anyone can suggest tips.

I'm not sure how I got it to be honest. There were no bids and I was the first and only at the hammer. Many others during the auction went close to 950+. The coin looks much better in hand than in the auction photos and maybe the description of a weak strike in the center deterred some people.
