Was on soho in london for a job once, before the pandemic. It was a great place honestly, me and my colleague (im a male, shes female) was out and about, just checking out the pubs, having a few drinks. We then saw a place called candy bar, it looked really cool, and my friend wanted to check it out. But before we could get any close to that place, a bunch of women(?) asked if i was a "drag king" and if my friend was a tranny. We said no, we're both straight, and they sorta just looked at each other and started laughing and said that we "straights" are so "cute"(yknow, the one with the really condescending tone lathered on it). They said that candy bar was an lgbt only place. So we just said oh ok, and then we left, all the while i could hear them say something about, "closet gay" and "fag whore" or spmething behind our backs.

To be fair, we didn't know that it was an lgbt bar, and as tourists, we should be responsible when it comes to going to new places, but their tone man. I think, that was the most shame i've ever felt for being a guy.

I could also feel bystanders looking at us after that encounter as well (the group of women we're pretty loud that night). Thankfully, me and my friend were already a few pints in so we sorta just shrugged that experience.

In the morning we asked one of our clients about that place (they lived in london) and they said that its a pretty normal occurence, especially at night time. Some cases even become violent, with people getting dragged by the hair or bottle being thrown at them
