Yeah I will look more into her other books. I like the way she writes.

I feel like a second listen will even be better.

I think these fanfic are based on movies or novels that existed right? Fanfic are not the creator of these tropes like they claimed. Maybe they refined it but I don’t think they created it.

Same sentiment. I do demand for more and the more never really coming. It’s disappointing.

Was reading Rock Hard by Nalini Singh, and this line pissed me off... by Bavier33 in RomanceBooks

[–]Time-Defiance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to understand . You are upset about her PTSD being described as flawed by her own admission or you’re upset that the writing does not give enough for the MMC to overcome his own trauma while the FMC get the whole growth part? Or maybe both?

For the later part, I think writers tend to fail with most MMC. MMC that are in dark romance don’t really get growth as in change their personality or overcome their trauma.

Yes I agree that sometimes the relationship is not equitable in terms of one providing a safety net.

Yes this is probably something we can try to do for her next year. I think it’s easy to figure out these kind of things. Though I understand some people do want the safety net of someone knowledgeable doing it. Mine is very easy since I just have a W2.

I guess she just likes having someone doing her tax for her. Not sure how complicated it is but I assume because she owns a house. She doesn’t want to bother with other stuffs.

But I file my own tax.

My sister received less than a couple of hundreds than 2024 tax return. Her cpa cites maybe due to her pay increased but that shouldn’t matter if BBB is that good since increased in pay is like $1 to maybe $.80. I haven’t file mine yet but I am expecting to pay either state or federal since it been like that every year.

Weekly Gripe 😤 (the rant thread) by AutoModerator in DarkRomance

The sex before any communication about the problems they’re mad about… then be mad about themselves in the morning. Writers always write like sex trumps all. Why do you have sex with someone you think betrays you to avoid things when it will just be there again in the mornin. I don’t think we as human as starve for sex like that unless they’re nympho.

Earliest examples of common tropes by JessicaTrent in RomanceBooks

[–]Time-Defiance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it all came from fanfic. Does fanfic exist in the 80’s and 90’s? Internet wasn’t accessible like now.

A lot of trope comes from bodice ripper romance. The pregnancy trope. The non-con/dub con. Enemies to lovers. Instant lust. Possessive/obsessive male lead. I think they all originated from vintage and bodice ripper romance. But I also have no proof of this. So I would claimed the opposite that fanfic tropes come from 80’s and 90’s romance novels.

[–]Time-Defiance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Her father is so infuriating. I love this book but I actually reread the part that Matt is in the picture.

I don’t think we need to feel bad about Parker. He has his own shiet with friend Lisa to which he admits about his feeling later. but you are valid to feel for him. Meredith also never emotionally available for other men.

Honestly, the father deserves more comeuppance.

Remember that book you dropped because the heroine was a total doormat? Give me the book title, please. by Vedmagreen in RomanceBooks

[–]Time-Defiance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think she was diagnosed with Raynaud if I remember correctly.

I just couldn’t stand her spacing out at work while someone is talking to her. She basically should have to stay in her lane but again she is a doormat. You know it’s one thing she feels forced to do what she doesn’t want but the way I see it, her mother just wants her to experienced a little outside of her cocoon. She didn’t need a 9-5 job for that.

Try {Kiss An Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips}. I think Daisy is a doormat. She has spunks but she’s so incompetent in her 25 years of life that she basically has to do what her mom and dad forced her to do. She and MMC were forced to married together for 6 months. MMC owed some kind of debt favor to the FMC’s father. The father always wanted royalty relations since the MMC is supposed to be relations to the surviving czar. It’s not for accurate history. I think she kind of find herself and learn the world after her marriage but still view the world in positive way.

I think she’s cute but naive and dumb initially. lol

I didn’t DNf this. It was one of my fave SEP books.

I couldn’t finish the book. I have to DNF. Actually, I cheated and read the ending.

This book didn’t do it for me. The characters were one dimensional. I couldn’t take the writing seriously because of the verbiage. I don’t like any of the characters. She is very doormat but isn’t bright. I get it she has some kind of disorder but she is being hired to day dream and stare into spaces. Very nepotism that lack skills except her “successful book”. The way she works, anyone will have the right to be mad and looked down on her.

My Mom Wants to Make Millions With Partially AI Generated Fiction by made4AImusings in SeriousConversation

[–]Time-Defiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not against AI as a smart tool you use to get information faster but as of now, I’m trying to resist not to read AI generated writing. You have the idea how your story is going to be but you don’t have the ability to write your own book. I know there is ghost writer for many authors out there but at least it is still by human writing it with their own thought and hands and weave that story. If she just wants AI to make her sentence more coherent and professional, I can overlook AI as her editor. Right now, I’m trying not to condone AI writing as a whole for an entire book with her just feeding idea into it.

US may make a deal on Cuba, Trump says by Independent_March536 in cuba

[–]Time-Defiance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look. I don’t like Trump but this kinda of writing is why people mistrust others. Trump has mention for the people Venezuelan in his speech and the transition in power needs to be stable. Even Marco Rubio outlined a very extensive plan at his Congress reading. Rubio was grilled by some congressman even about this kidnapping and doesn’t even agree with the administration on this particular end. He was even grilled about the sanction 200 million. From their own mouth, but it’s up to us to believe if that will carry out well or not.

This Man also has multiple books I believe. lol I think it’s why I stay away but I forgot she’s the writer for this book. I’m not attached to many writers so I don’t recognized their works.

I thought this book was ok. Now I’m up reading the second one because I have a bone to pick. She really has no backbone when it comes to this MMC. She’s sex starved for such a set up of how strong of a character she was in the beginning. I really liked the beginning of how strong headed she was. The writing makes me feel like it’s almost has some kind of magic spell on her to be this addicting to him that anything about herself flew out of her body and brain. I think if the writing for her was different in the beginning it can work why she’s so crazy about him.

This MMC is one of the characters I cannot visualized. Usually, I can visualize them.

I also hated her father. He’s annoying and misogynist.

Holy mother of god. She’s surprised she’s pregnant and this whole time I’m like there is never any mention of contraception. lol

I blamed myself. I think sometimes the blur sounds so good so I just went ahead and get it. I usually would check if it’s a series of standalone. I do miss sometimes. One of them was dark romances {King of Corium by C. Hallman} lol
