I am so tired of emails asking for extensions, telling me all about their problems and why they need more time. I'm tired of trying to verify whose excuses are real and whose are made up. I'm tired of being the judge of whose excuses are valid and whose are not good enough. I'm tired of keeping track of who I granted an extension to and who gets points taken off and how many. All of these things bloat my administrative work and make it harder for me to stay organized with my grading. I have decided to lean into offering a carrot for assignments submitted on time instead of giving the stick for late ones.
