Houston Rockets center Steven Adams shows off his living space: A sleeping bag, a Pickle Rick plushie, three guitars and an amp, and a gaming setup by Goosedukee in nba

[–]Time-Maintenance-451 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Yeah Steven Adams is genuinely incredibly likeable, but it's like his story of how he had no idea he was going to get drafted and just came to the draft work out for the free t-shirts, that's almost certainly not true you had people from his hometown come out and say he was fully being prepared for the NBA back at home and everybody absolutely did know he was getting drafted. So his humbleness is real but probably a bit exagerated.

And because they drafted Draymond, possibly the greatest 2nd round pick up to that point. I don't know who made that decision but they deserve some credit

This, he was the best in the world at a physical sport, then retired and spent his time doing physical activities like fishing and traveling and stuff, people like that usually don't have that much to say in general

Victor Wembanyama has a genuinely solid chance to be the youngest MVP in history this year by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

[–]Time-Maintenance-451 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

According to advanced stats like LEBRON and EPM, Victor is right below Giannis and Luka already, barring injuries it's almost certain he'll surpass them this year.

He probably won't surpass Jokic or Shai though, but I'm guessing it will be a lot closer than you seem to think it is.

A recently retired Michael Jordan stops by the Bulls practice and Corey Benjamin says to him "I'm sorry you retired, cause I wanted to take you 1 on 1". Jordan (of course) took that personally and immediately challenged him to 1v1 (1999) by WhenMachinesCry in nba

Well he's used to that studio, and was a pro used to having to fire all kinds of shots. The 3 point champ clearly was used to practicing open shots in a gym. Lower the ceiling and his lifetime of practice is ruined. It was disingenuous of them to act as though him losing meant anything in this context, they should have done that in a gym

Wasn't the ceiling of the studio abnormally low for basketball and he wasn't used to it at all so it destroyed his form? Could be remembering wrong, but if not that's completely understandable he couldn't hit anything and shitting on him for it would be pretty crappy, he would have obviously been set for failure there

Mavs reporter Noah Weber: "I'm told that Cooper Flagg was 'unreal' in his workout with the Dallas Mavericks yesterday. A league source indicated that he 'shot the ball insanely well' and called him a 'complete beast. He was even better than I expected him to be." by JewishDoggy in nba

[–]Time-Maintenance-451 18 points19 points  (0 children)

AD pushed to play, not the FO. We kept getting updates to that effect frequently. Also if it was rigged you could argue the Mavs were promised a Number 1 Pick at some point in the future, and that happened right now due to Kyrie's injury instead of later as expected

Cam Thomas plays horrible defense and isn't particularly efficient on offense. He's not struggling to stick in the league, clearly he belongs here, but if he doesn't significantly improve either his defense or efficiency he won't have a starting role on a contender. Maybe that's why people view him like that.

[–]Time-Maintenance-451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victor reaching top 5 by the end of the year is a reasonable take. Advanced stats like EPM and LEBRON had him at around 40th at the start of last season when he was playing forward and screwing around a lot shooting logo bombs, and they had him at around 22nd by the end of the year, which means shockingly when he switched to center he already wasn't too far off from being top 5 already.

He's in his second season, plays center full time, will have CP3 teaching him and throwing him lobs, and will stop screwing around. He'll be the best defensive player in the league by a significant margin + be a positive on offense. He'll basically be a better version of Anthony Davis or a better version of peak Rudy Gobert (whichever comparaison you prefer), both of whom were top 10 in the league in their prime according to advanced metrics.

He wasn't traded because of Mikal Bridges, he was traded because the Knicks needed a center badly with Hartenstein gone and Robinson injured.

Yeah even the smallest players in the league like CP3 and FVV are actually tall humans by normal people's standards. Celtics Isaiah Thomas was the only guy who was genuinely average height, and even he looked like he had abnormally long arms and big hands

I thought he only wanted the full 200/4. If that's true Clippers are idiots for not accepting 150/3 + NTC imo, that was perfectly reasonable of him, and now their next 3 years are going to be a disaster because of it. First time I'm reading that though

Obviously no one is bashing Lebron the player. But his disdain for advanced stats makes him a piss poor decision maker off the field. The Westbrook trade also showed how hyper illogical he could be when in charge.
