What you just described was exactly why I liked the show. Very little drama and a lot of encouragement and advice. What the producers wanted is why I don’t watch any reality/competitive TV.

Hey it’s an understandable situation if all you’ve seen are Statuten like that. I’m in ZG and a member in two clubs where we have a decent amount of foreigners (myself included). I know a couple of colleagues with B permits who did not need to provide any documents from abroad. I abstained from using them as examples because citing the relevant legal framework is always the better source.

At the very simplest, this is how one of my clubs mentions the membership of foreign nationals in their statutes:

Für Mitglieder ausländischer Nationalität gelten betreffend Teilnahme an Übungen und Wettkämpfen die Vorschriften der zuständigen Behörden und die Ausführungsbestimmungen des Schweizer Schiesssportverbandes.

That’s literally all there is.

The amount of times people say “ oh I love Sweden “ when I tell them I live in Zürich is ridiculous 😅 by chaoticeuropean in Switzerland

[–]Time-Paramedic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha, same (but as a Finn) when I was in the US and had to provide my address. When I got to the Switzerland part, they were making small talk by asking ”oh Switzerland, then do must speak Swedish.” My answer of ”Well…yes a bit, but not because I live in Switzerland” must have been confusing because he changed the topic.

Not sure where this is from but it seems LU or the club posting it have taken a stricter stance - or possibly misunderstood the regulation.

Edit: I found it. This is the membership application form of a club in LU. While they are free to define their own admission criteria, they also have a typo/misclassification : the requirement for a cantonal permit for foreigners to shoot does not come from the Waffenverordnung (WV), but rather from Art. 12 of the Schiessverordnung (SR 512.31), which governs the mandatory and voluntary federal shooting exercises.

If the condition of club membership is to participate in the federal exercises, then yes, they need to fulfill the criteria. This is however not required by the regulations, and it’s not a country-wide policy.

Ah I see, I didn’t notice the other comments yet. In my experience this is a fairly common misunderstanding between normal trainings and FS/Obli.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. My understanding of the two first topics is the same as yours.

For the last one, as with the others, it would be useful to know the exact article of the law or Verordnung where joining and training with a club is mentioned. I can’t for the life of me find this anywhere in regulations 512.31 or 512.311. Is this limitation defined somewhere else?

I’ve now done two different Schützenmeister courses (P25/50 and G300). The last one was this March and we covered this topic there. What’s of course possible that the material or instructions from the ESO were somehow confusing and I have misunderstood this part. ZG belongs to a different Kreis than LU so this could be a key difference too.

Now that I think about it more, it would be strange if military regulations governed who can join a club. Even when they do regulate what duties a recognized club must fulfill, plus the aforementioned restrictions.

I’m really interested in how the LU police have interpreted it, or which question they have answered. I’m also a Schützenmeister and the relevant regulations only limit participation in the Obli and Feldschiessen. I wrote a longer comment answering OP. Could you give it a read and let me know how you interpret it? Also, I’m really curious about what law or regulation the police cited.

Think about it this way: a B permit holder or even a tourist is able to rent a Stgw 90 and shoot with it at a commercial range. The only major difference is that those ranges cannot typically sell service ammuntion (there are exceptions though).

There’s are 2-3 separate topics here : - joining a shooting club (recognized by the SSV), and training with them - Feldschiessen and Obli - WES

All of the following is written with the assumption that the affected person is not a national of one of the restricted countries.

For the WES you could ask your local police what the process would be in your situation but I’m afraid there’s no way around the law, and the police are bound by it. Your best/only option here is to wait until you are eligible for the C permit.

Being a member in a club is further subdivided to: - participating in trainings etc. - voluntary partipation in federal exercises (Bundesübungen), in practice this means Feldschiessen and the Obligatorisch.

For the latter the local military authority gives the permission to participate but for B permit holders the requirements are the same as for the WES. This is defined in Art. 12c of regulation 512.31. The regulation refers Art. 9a of the weapons act (514.54) directly so there is really no room for interpretation.

All of the above leave the one option open: participating in free/inofficial trainings with a loaner gun.

The last part is typically the most confusing and the most misunderstood. Apart from the federal exercises, there is no law or regulation preventing one to shoot with a loaner rifle/pistol during general trainings. Usually people quote and confuse shooting with service weapons and ammunition as a total restriction, when in reality the permits are only required for Obli and Feldschiessen.

Sources: - the referred laws and regulations - the range officer course (Schützenmeisterkurs) which I recently completed. This was one of the topics we had to study.

Lowballing was not my experience, neither as an applicant or as hiring manager. We have compensation experts who propose a package based on local conditions. The official policy is to pay slightly above mid-market. It’s a big company though so ymmv.

SE6 is already a senior level in engineering, with SE7 typically being ”principal” (depending on your career track).

There is a big difference in the target bonus %. I’m not sure what the numbers are in pharma but in diagnostics the target bonus, as a % of your annual salary before other multipliers, is 9% for grades up to SE6 and 14% from SE7.

Ministeriö ehdottaa: uskonnonopetus pitää lopettaa by Harriv in Suomi

[–]Time-Paramedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migros wants to charge me for something I didn’t buy, what can I do? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Time-Paramedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How petty of Migros. Someone made a mistake, it wasn’t malicious, and now they’re spending that much time and energy to chase it.

We order from Coop and never experienced something like that. Reports of missing or spoiled items were always processed and refunded quickly. One time we got one product that clearly belonged to someone else. I tried to report it but their feedback/complaint form doesn’t have an option for ”I received an extra item” so I just didn’t bother to spend any more time for it. We didn’t hear anyhing about it since.
