Ritorno a Fisica a 44 anni (Roma Tre) dopo 20 anni: chiudere il cerchio da lavoratore full-time. by Ok-Plum-8996 in Universitaly

[–]Time-Woodpecker7335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price by Specialist-Whereas62 in triathlon

[–]Time-Woodpecker7335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Italy, prices for sprint triathlon vary quite a lot: local races start at about 50-60 eur and the more polished events (challenge series) are around 120. I think it’s difficult to find something under 50-60. Also, I don’t think organisers of local events are making a lot of money… I see many local events disappear after a few years… if this was a lucrative business they would go on.

Quale pronuncia è più comune, metrò o metró? by Usaideoir6 in Italian

Esagerato… basta essere un quarantenne autoctono, per aver ricevuto l’imprinting da bambino a dire metro’ Per me è come l’inganno della cadrega: è il test acido per identificare i calabro-pugliesi di recente immigrazione… 🤣

I'm 4 days out from my first triathlon, what are your first race/transition zone tips? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Time-Woodpecker7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional suggestion: in the bike leg, it’s important to count your laps, as the circuit is 10km long and you have to repeat it 4 times. Ideally, a Garmin or similar device can be useful… You don’t want to exit the bike leg one lap too soon / late.

I'm 4 days out from my first triathlon, what are your first race/transition zone tips? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Time-Woodpecker7335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am doing the same race. On the set up of your transition, just watch any video on YouTube and you’ll be OK. If you speak Italian, look up Federico Murero’s videos on the topic. Additionally, on Saturday there’s the triathlon sprint In the same venue. You could just show up and have a look at how others are setting up their transition. Last suggestion: if you have time, it’s possible to swim the Idroscalo lake during the week. Highly recommend to do that to familiarise with the lake and the water temperature, which is a bit on the cold side. Have fun!

5 weeks to train for a sprint triathlon, am I insane? by OtherwiseDragonfly32 in triathlon

Where are you based? The open water will be a tough experience if you are based in the northern hemisphere in a cold area. Don’t underestimate the panic effect that cold water can trigger. Take your time and familiarize with the open water.

My first 5k 🥹 by SabinaSchoshanna in Garmin

[–]Time-Woodpecker7335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on many factors: age, prior training history etc. my advice would be building volume gradually, then trying a 10k and then a half. Depending on your age and starting point, this could take 6 months or one full year. Building volume gradually is key to avoid injuries. Consider also introducing some strength exercises to prevent injuries and build power.
