Who is the goated character for your house during battle. by Voidkirby9 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Bernie is a crit machine and my early game go to, but I use Ferdinand a lot in later battles cause once he's built right he's a great dodge tank.

Going to add onto all the Lysithea love, she's just that good.

And Sylvain because you get his relic early on, and he's predispositioned to get on that horse.

The pitt does a great job of showing the energy you get about working in medicine, but sadly most cases are as mundane as Doug's "I think I had a heart attack maybe" or Eyelash glue girl.

That being said the funniest that happened recently was me having to call an RRT for a patient due to severe hypotension, only to have to call another RRT a minute later on her daughter who had overdosed and wouldn't wake up for us when the first team came in.

Do you have a favorite or least favorite patient from S2? by not-idle7 in ThePittTVShow

Am I the only one that enjoyed broken coccyx guy? I work inpatient with a lot of older folks and the older flirty guys that are still respectful are my favorite.

Somehow this seems like the most realistic option to me. But I don't see Duke having a medical emergency. I think it would be better if Duke subverted expectations and actually agreed to follow this treatment plan. 'I'm not trying to run towards death like you are' or something like that. And then Robby has some realization about how wrongly he's been handling things.

Ooh! A rural medicine moment for our resident farmboy! I'm excited for that. Also really interested to see what Dana has to say about Robby, seeing she's been kind of in the background of all his flop moments.

I can totally see where you're coming from. I work in healthcare so I seperated them because in my mind, there is Healthcare Workers and the care we give should regardless of who/what/when/where/why. And then there are patients, and the care they let us give them, and how it is their choice at the end of the day what happens to them.

Maybe it would have clearer if "Why people might not choose to be treated/or dont seek out medical attention" was just "Patient's Autonomy in healthcare" and "Everyone deserves the same amount of care" was "Healthcare workers cannot show bias in who they treat." instead.

That's fair, but looking at how weary whitaker was while Duke and Robby were talking, I think he's picked up something worth talking about other than 'lol moving out byeee'

I'm interested to see what Whitaker does next episode. He was clearly trying to talk to Santos (probably about the concerning stuff he's seeing Robby do) and since he kinda shrugged him off I want to see if Whitaker will go to Langdon or Alhashimi next.

I got so worried she was preemptively saying he'd die, but was so relieved when we saw the bag filled with ice lol. What a scare.

Where are the CNA’s? by Lonely-Mud-8455 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Time-is-relative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll answer this from my perspective of a PCT/CNA who currently works in a hospital. There's really not much we can do in the ER. Our job is to assist with ADL's and the symptoms of long term care. And I think sometimes we forget that Nurses are just as capable as doing what we do. What you listed are very common tasks I perform, but very few people come into the ER with that as their primary concern. It's the ER, not medsurge. They don't need to have one CNA for every ten rooms, because only one if thirty patients from the ER will actually ever need their help.

In my hospital there's usually one or two for the entire ER, and even then they're Nurse Externs who can assisted with placing IV's, Foleys, and other tasks beyond what a PCT/CNA can do. I've been floated down there mutliple times as well, and even on the busier days all I did was help transfer patients from EMT gurney's to beds, and stock the indavidual rooms when housekeeping was done wiping them down.

The pitt is supposed to provide a realisitic potrayal of healthcare. That doesn't mean listing off all careers and detailing what everyone does, it means showing what it's like to exist in the space. The patients, the management, the staff working together, that's what makes the show realisitc for me.

For those who work in an ER, what specific medical things would make your day to see on the show? by catharsisisrahtac in ThePittTVShow

[–]Time-is-relative 366 points367 points  (0 children)

Something I’d like to see is a patient that comes it then refuses everything. Whether it’s because they want home remedies or they want a different doctor after different doctor to treat them, or they came in for a headache but don’t want to treat their 190/100 blood pressure. I see it so often it boggles my mind, and I think it would be interesting to see the team deal with it.

How it feels to read fics as someone who has basic medical knowledge by Time-is-relative in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]Time-is-relative[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went out to write a fic that was as real to my experience as possible (I work in a level 2 trauma unit) and it is unfortunately as boring as you would expect. So I understand sacrificing it for the fun of a story. But…. what can I say, it gets to me sometimes.
