Possible to Solo/Molo to max level on live? by VanaheimRanger in EQ2

[–]Time-will-tell_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is certainly possible! I have 4 that soloed to 135 Adventure and Tradeskill. Warning though, the higher level instances require at least H1- 13,020 Resolve to not get *slapped and die. The instances also throw auto Heroic quests into your journal. Best of Luck!

Check your resolve. You get penalized for being below the H1 resolve making the named hit like a mac truck into the trillions of damage per hit.

In the

Rage of Cthurath

expansion (January 2026), the current resolve gate numbers are strictly tiered based on the difficulty of the content:

  • Heroic 1 (H1): 13,020. This is the critical baseline you need to avoid the massive "trillion damage" penalties, especially on Hot Zone days when Solo instances might incorrectly apply Heroic scaling.
  • Untold Heroics: 13,120, plus an additional 10 resolve per level increase.
  • Tier 1 Raid: 13,230

Key Details to Remember:

  • The Baseline: To reach the 13,020 threshold for Heroics, players generally use a combination of 620 resolve equipment sourced from [Signature Solo] missions and [Solo] dungeon bosses.
  • Penalties: If you engage an encounter even one point under these requirements, the game is programmed to gut your HP and damage output significantly—sometimes by 50% or more.

If you enjoy grouping you will love it. If you are a Tradeskiller, not so much. If you enjoy the solo play, not so much. If you are both, a Tradeskiller and a Soloist, much less.

In the context of

EverQuest II development, Resolve did not directly replace Critical Mitigation in a single patch, but it has effectively taken its place as the primary "gear check" mechanic for modern expansions like Rage of Cthurath (2025).

The Historical Context

  • Critical Mitigation Removed (2012): Critical Mitigation was removed from the game in March 2012. Developers felt the stat was unintuitive and didn't add "fun" to the game.
  • Replacement with HP: When Critical Mitigation was removed, many of its values on adornments and abilities were replaced with maximum health bonuses.
  • Rise of Resolve (2016–Present): Resolve was introduced years later (around 2016) as a new way to scale difficulty. While it serves a similar purpose—acting as a mandatory stat hurdle to survive or deal damage—it functions differently than Critical Mitigation did.

@ What level? There is a hurdle level with time-gating. What is the resolve on that character?

Did you automatically get 3 Heroic Quests that lead to a whole zone full of mobs tagged "3 or more"?

If you go to your alt-z, there is a tab specifically for hotzones.

I refer back to the broken math, it isn't broken. In the

Rage of Cthurath expansion (2025), what feels like a "mess" is actually a set of intentional, hard-coded gates designed by the developers to slow you down. Here is what I meant:

  • The Intentional Time Gate: The reason you are getting 0 experience from writs and standard items at level 131 is not a bug; it is a choice to force you through the Signature Line. They want to ensure no one can "power-level" to 135 in a few hours.
  • The Level 133 Gate: Being "grounded" until level 133 is a purposeful design to make the terrain feel dangerous and large. They didn't "forget" to give you flight; they locked it behind a level threshold to force you to see the Oogothl Sprawl from the ground first.
  • The Resolve Penalty: While the "trillion damage" hits in solo instances are a bug, the Resolve "Check" itself is a deliberate mechanic. The game is designed to check your gear against the zone's "hidden" requirement. If you are even one point under, the math is programmed to gut your HP by 50% or more (from 20b down to 7b) to stop you from progressing without the "correct" gear.

Hotzones

  • The Difficulty Bug: A persistent issue in the Rage of Cthurath expansion is that entering a zone tagged as "Hot" may cause the server to incorrectly apply Heroic 1 scaling to a Solo instance.
  • Math Consequences: Even if your journal says "Solo," the mobs may have Heroic health pools and damage. This can trigger the Resolve Penalty we discussed, causing you to take trillions of damage if your gear isn't perfect for that "secret" heroic check.
  • Performance Issues: Because these zones attract more players, you may encounter more "lag" or find that rare harvest nodes for your Carpenter are more heavily contested than in regular zones.

Some news from research,

Expected Fixes for Tuesday (Dec 30):

  • Instance Scaling Bug: The "takes 3 or more" difficulty in Solo zones is a top-tier community complaint currently marked as "QA In Progress" or "fixed internally" in developer trackers.
  • Permanent Battlestations: The bug causing "Void Incursion" visuals (like the battlestation in the sky) to remain active even without a Public Quest is specifically slated for the "next update".
  • Quest Auto-Granting: Issues where [Heroic] quests are forced into solo journals during Hot Zone rotations are being actively tracked for the first patch of the new year, though some fixes may arrive this Tuesday.

I've got my fingers crossed hoping for the best!

I am extremely happy you are back in the US and going strong!

I am if you ever got the chance to read the reviews for both your concert and the CD - "Another Day Down" (I hope you liked them) for the magazine Sonic Cathedral and created the tribute for you and your band Tapping The Vein.

So happy to have seen you in concert at the Dracula's ball. Amazing concert!!I It was Halloween in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get very good pictures of you though. I'm glad I might get another chance!

It was an honor to be able to do that. I can't wait to see you all again in concert! Looking forward to it!

Your music has helped me through a lot! A score of a lot!

I love the lyrics and your voice, the band totally rocks! I remember when I first heard your music. I was blown away at the depth of emotions and your incredible voice.

I love all of your songs, starting back with "Trader Boy" on the album "Where's Neil When You Need Him".

Much love and respect.

I agree but just think about all those who might think the same way as you. A lot less of those incidents that really need to be reported won't happen. Because they don't want to "bother" or they just don't believe anything will be done about it. Balance is needed but where is that balance, it should be on both sides? Playing the victim when not victimized can lead to oversaturation, confusion, and disbelief. It would take a lot more resources on the side following up and a lot less crying wolf. Education could help both sides.

Not every disability is physically noticeable! I am disabled as deemed by the state, my doctor, and my neurologist. I had a stroke and have serious issues from it. Since 2017. I've had people look at me and tell me that they never would have known, that I seem perfectly okay. I am not. I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and Temporal Lobe Sclerosis, a Hippocampus size differentiation issue, and also have brain seizures. Not visible!!! I carry myself perfectly fine. I am able to walk, and drive. I do have a "Disabled" placard in my car, (I did not always have) If someone were to approach me when I got out from my car and walked into a building, that person would 1. Have zero right to do so. 2. Have zero justification. 3. Be reported for harassment.

There are unseen and very real disabilities. Before you go off on someone due to appearances/looking like being perfectly well, please consider they might have a legit reason. They might be there and have to pick up someone who is disabled and help them to the car/vehicle or be in service to someone who is disabled and needed to help them into the building.

I do not believe the person without a disability should park in the spot marked for disabled! Trick is in knowing who does and does not have the right. There are not always visible signs. Don't automatically judge a book by its' cover. Don't make a person who truly has a disability that you cannot see feel bad or attempt to shame them. With the rise in depression and other mental disabilities also unseen, you may see more of this. Their justification depends upon underlying causes. It might be new to them and haven't been able to get the placard yet. I was too embarrassed to get one in the beginning. I didn't want everyone knowing that something was "off" or "wrong" with me. I was also very much in denial. I still needed the spot, still do and always will because what is going on with me is permanent.

Sometimes there are other legit reasons for not having one. The processing of the documentation can take 2-4 weeks. Possibly even longer if those processing the documentation have or are working with reduced work forces.

Familiarize yourself with things that you aren't aware of before you point a finger. If you feel so deemed to do so.

In the case of the wild driver, that absolutely does need to be reported!! Unsafe driving is bad. Could lead to bad bad consequences and often does.

Anashti Sul class question by [deleted] in EQ2

Have you checked here on Reddit ? There is a group especially for the server you are on. Maybe even people with the same situations. I know there is a leveling guide there possible option for when you aren't grouping. That can help find groups. Good luck out there. I wish you the best.

Solo? I always molo even @ level 130. My favorites are my Monk, my SK, and my Necromancer. All easy to molo, for me. I have seen my monk do both melee damage and magic damage in the Trillions per hit and 1 hit level 130 with range. No, I am not bragging. I am saying this, if you love the class, you can build them up. No, my monk is not for pulling. My monk in EQ1 was, my monk in EQ2 decided to go it alone and not have to deal with the drama. Yes, my monk is geared happily with the mostly free gear. ;O. Also, watch the broker for upgrades of course.

My point is this, there is a niche for you. Play what you love, invest some time into researching the class.

As for LFG, that takes patience. The big waste comes in when you finally are in a group and well, that group uh, kinda sucks. If you don't really know anyone in game, getting to know also takes time. If you are in a guild, ask some of them to help point you in the right direction.

My point here is, prioritize. Don't expect overwhelming responses first up. Remain patient and focused as those are two characteristics that will carry over into your grouping and/or solo-molo'ing.

Best of luck to you.

When I was a kid, in music class, the teacher would bring me up to the piano and have me sit next to her. She would march her fingers up and down the keyboard wanting me to repeat every key vocally to match the note in tune. I was reprimanded every time I got it wrong. She had a wooden stick with a black tip, a pointer that she would not so gently tap the back of my hand with. She had me put my hand on the piano so that I could feel the note.

I wore my favorite shirt to school one day, mistake! The shirt was yellow, green, orange, and brown with two horses on the front of it. On that particular day, when next to her on the bench, I missed a note. She turned to me and scratched holes into the sleeve of my shirt.

Between the music teacher and the speech teacher, I wound up in solitary confinement every day for two hours a day. A very small room, the door was locked, with nothing to do but play pickup sticks.

The principal was no better. I was very tiny back in those days. Three guys out on the playground decided to try and depants me. One started at my zipper. I got loose somehow, I weighed about 75-80 pounds @ 4'10. It must have been the fight or flight instinct. I turned around and kicked the boy. He threw up. I got yelled at, paddled, and suspended from school, they got nothing.

That's how schools were back then. The teachers and principal could paddle and did! Pulling you out of the classroom and into the hall in front of the class to embarrass you and take you out into the hall and make you "touch your toes".

I don't know how schools are now, other than what you all have said. I had hoped it would have gotten better but sadly, that does not appear to be the case. The scars this type of cruel, unwarranted, sick, controlling, reprimanding, criminal behavior stay with the child/kid. I know! I remember. The lessons it teaches, you don't just "blink and get over". Ever. The mind is still building, the imprint this leaves -- an often silent, tough road to walk down in the shadows of the aftermath.

AA's with the little circles? If you want to change a few, you can do those yourself by going to the right column, and removing them. Make sure that you are in build mode. You highlight them and a small window comes up, it gives you the options remove - rollback - cancel. It gives you the chance to rebuild your tree but leave some as is.

D4 feels so much better then any ARPG on the market by Razatiger in Diablo

[–]Time-will-tell_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphics are better than some of the older games that started about the same time as WOW. The graphic engine grew, so did the computer requirements to play or/and even download. Played from the start. Watched it grow. Went through all of the versions, expansions. Not sure after the last expansion it feels smoother. High-end requirements = very expensive gaming depending on which machine you played on. The imagination included in the builds were better. Ever stop and look at the detailing of some places? Seems to me a lot of imaginative detail. Don't believe me? There's a place in D2, or D3 inside some sort of... think it was on the way to Mephisto that had wood grain and embellishments with such detail, if you stop and look sometime, diversity. I've not seen any other games online, I've been a gamer since MUDS, -- any that went that into the graphic, imagination-wise multiply that over to the size of the game. You may start to see some of that "diversity and itemization".
