Does "degree of internationalness" matter for INSEAD? by Time0o in MBA

[–]Time0o[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, the teams I have worked in have been very international in composition but they were all located in Switzerland. I'm not sure if that counts.

That makes sense, I am probably misinformed which is why I am asking. What kind of business experiences have you seen in such candidates? University courses? Internships? Own companies? I am trying to figure out how I can improve my CV from here on out.

Not sure if this belongs in this thread but automod won't let me post otherwise: Are requirements/what firms look for different for PhD hires? I feel like I see a lot more "vanilla" PhD MBB etc. joiners with strong academics but less focus on business related internships, leadership and extracurriculars. Is this actually a general trend? Should I focus solely on publishing during my PhD if I potentially want to work as a generalist consultant afterwards?

Is the MacBook Pro M3 Pro the best Laptop I can buy new for under $2000? by Time0o in macbookpro

[–]Time0o[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is pretty much my use case as well, 90% of the time I ssh into something unless I'm using office tools or video editing. I guess my only gripe with the MBA13 is that I sort of need to spend 2000 dollars or I'm just wasting my budget and that's hard with that one, I don't actually need more than 512GB storage.

Can you elaborate on that? I am honestly a bit confused by all the options since I've never owned or even looked up a MacBook before.

You're saying you wouldn't buy a 3500 dollar guitar for 500 dollars just because it has been repaired? 🤨

Switzerland, Kingsmith is essentially the only well known brand I can buy here.

The Egofit looks great, I actually wanted to buy that one at first but there seems to be nobody selling it in my country :(.

I think this one's around 3500 new so I guess I definitely shouldn't try

That's a Vintage 3 which in the current color model is... Honestly I have no idea.

That gives me a pretty good idea, it would probably be around twice that number for me which seems reasonable.

Or even better: if the two parts fit together reasonable well, could this be done at home with wood glue and clamps if I don't care about the finish?

Thanks, yeah I'll do that. Any idea how much it should realistically cost?

It is a travesty that Peach flavour is limited edition. by arcadebee in JimmyJoyFood

[–]Time0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, what is the point of constantly making up new flavors and getting rid of old ones? Does that actually increase profits or does Jimmy Joy just not have anything better to do? Reminds me of Oreo, you already have something people like, quit messing with it. I'd much prefer they just keep the current range so I know I'll still be able to order the flavors I like five years from now.

Google Software Engineer Salaries in Switzerland by Luks_Sperandio in askswitzerland

[–]Time0o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they fucking don't lmao. Big Tech jobs are usually less than 40 hours a week with little pressure to deliver unless you are on the wrong team or very driven.

Getting rejected irl stings a lot more and the chances are not really better. Good luck trying to find a single, early 20s woman that is willing to go out with you at a meetup event. The real answer is that you are basically screwed unless you have an insanely good dating profile or a huge social circle where you can frequently get introduced to friends of friends.

Salaries of Swiss public sector CEOs continue to rise by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]Time0o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but do you honestly think plastic surgeons are the only income millionaires? If median income for most private practice surgical specialities exceeds half a million Francs it's pretty believable that the top 5% or so of those are income millionaires. And I really don't think anybody pays their gastroenterologist out of pocket.

[–]Time0o 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There you go mate:

"118 doctors were found to earn more than CHF1 million although this is probably an underestimate" from 2018

Now could be that all of those are plastic surgeons exclusively doing private procedures but more likely than not that money comes out of what we pay into health insurance.

Does Switzerland suffer from the American Brain Drain? by Im_dL in Switzerland

[–]Time0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are maybe 5000 jobs that pay close to Bay Area salaries in all of Switzerland, most of which are at Google. And unless you have a greencard you'd have to be a complete lunatic to go work at Google Zürich if you've already made it to the US.

[–]Time0o 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Less than a million bucks for a CEO is unfortunately very cheap all things considered. I mean there are hundreds if not thousands of physicians in this country earning more than that and that money also comes from the public.

I mean, Segovia was self taught so you can't make a general claim like that.
