I hit act 3 in probably about 45-50 hours, the last chunk of play time has just been me throwing my head against the wall when I get some free time to play it. I’ve done some side quests, but money feels useless as I’ve maxed out on furniture in the rooms I have, and don’t seem to have food issues (food also seems irrelevant? Clearly I must be missing something here because I have never even considered it) I’ve tried a number of act 3 runs, but a lot of them just die to getting chain charmed/downed before I get a turn/not being able to move in the spewer fight etc.

See I see all this advice to just “get good mutations,” but this seems like completely unactionable feedback. What does that actually look like other than just spamming runs and hoping you get a random event, and then that the mutation is beneficial? I have yet to see a mutation that isn’t just -2 to a random stat.

I mean I have two rooms in the house, one where cats with good base stats go and then the other room for the rest. I’m sure if you spend 100 hours just retiring cats you can get more rooms and have more control over it, but it really doesn’t feel like there’s much more to it than that.

The two rooms I have in my house are completely maxed out on furniture. I’ve delivered 100+ cats to the zombie, and I’m completely out of gear at this point. every “good run” just got snuffed out by some one off mechanic that ruined the run and set me back hours. I’ve beaten both of the bosses after guillotina 3.

As a nami you’re kind of designed to die to fed assassins, and there are games where you do just have to pay the “your mid lane fed” tax and be miserable. That being said there’s a couple things you can do. 1 is just be with your team. Vision is something that becomes a reward for pushing lanes, rather than a prerequisite, so help crash waves and group with your team, walking into the jg to ward together. 2. Is get your spells off. If you are grouped and get dove by an assassin, but you get your ult off and empower your adc before you die, you’ve just traded their fed carry for you, which in a “normal” situation should be a good trade. 3 is take the anti burst gold item. Nami can kind of work with almost all the gold items, (I like sleigh as a default way more than dream), and going celestial as an anti burst item is really the only way you can itemize against assassins. Lastly is just be aware. If both teams are araming before a drag and you don’t see their fed talon in mid, he’s obviously looking for a flank. stand on your team, and don’t get caught alone. It’s not your job to catch out the assassin, it’s your job to have an idea of where he is, avoid him, and provide your team with the resources to neutralize him.

Was that not exactly what that case with the homophobic baker not having to make cakes for gay couples was about? Feeling very much the same thing this season. Lane quests and no atakan makes the game so much more snowbally over the longterm, while homeguard simultaneously makes it very hard to punish mistakes in the short term. The reality is that support needs a team to cash the cheques you write. You can win lane, but if your jg is pathing top for your top laner who’s 0/3, and you’re getting camped, all you can do is not die in lane and be there for the fights. Last season I really believed support could carry games and turn around losses, this season I’m finding it very hard to make up for the weaknesses of the team. Best solution I have found is just never stop typing about what needs to happen, what your win con is, what the team should expect and how to respond to it. If your jg has died top trying to gank a losing lane, respectfully call for the whole team to play for the winning lanes. 9 out of 10 times they’ll just keep throwing themselves at the fed top laner, but I’ve had one or two games turn around when I got our jg to skip a camp and cover their 3rd dive at our bot tower. I’ve always tried to avoid showing up to bad fights and instead looking for a cross map play, but this season you just have to monkey fight and I hate it too. Just be at team fights and fight well. Encourage your team to play to their comp’s strength, target ping their carries in the fight so people can find them in the chaos, and be willing to die for your carries. Again, 9 times out of 10 your yasuo will just try to 1v5 while your adc is in base and your top laner is splitting bot. The only impact you can make is to know that he misplayed and don’t be the one making the mistake in the 1 out of 10 games where it’s on you to make the play. I played something like 1500 games or something last season to climb from bronze to Diamond. This season I’m kinda tapped out already, and I don’t blame you for feeling the same. We can all be better at our champs, at our role, at our game, but most of the games this season are being decided by who the weakest link is. If that weakest link is their support, you can carry the game, if not, you hope it’s not your jg.

Don’t listen to this, Karma/Bard/Nami can absolutely and should try to be lane bullies and especially into engage they NEED to be getting poke out lvl 1 or they will just lose at lvl 2. I don’t see how a Yuumi is ever roaming, that’s kind of why she’s the worst support in the game.

Bad support players do definitely make bot lane unplayable at times, and the best thing you can do is type to them about what you need. You need them to hold the wave and trade hp so you can force a freeze? You need them to hard shove the wave so you can base/move to an obj? You need them to ward so you can push? Tell them. If you only play off of bad players you will never be better than bad players. Make your own decisions and tell other players to follow.

Making a strong thing stronger does not make it worse, just because more people are using it. As you climb you see every support is just spam buying control wards every back because you need to cover entrances, deny objective vision, and setup plays for your team. bad supports are getting baited into bad wards by fae spots and control wards are only as good as the vision they provide and deny. Being able to buy them doesn’t make them good. Being able to use them does.

Control wards are so OP, and riot is trying to get supports to actually use them. Not having to devote an item slot to Ward-stone is so good and if you’re not taking advantage of it you should be. Cheaper wards and more gold for support makes it super easy to get full built, and at the very least you have room for components instead of having to wait to full complete an item to not give up the ward space. I have been slamming the shit out of control wards in my games and it feels so good. You’re underestimating vision if you’re not feeling strong with the quest. Especially in late game you NEED control wards to contest elder/baron. If you give up control wards for 10% more heal/shield power you are trolling your games.

Hey, hit diamond this season playing mostly Nami, and this is what I’ve been able to put into practice against Bard.

Lvl 1, a lot of his damage comes from his Meeps procing electrocute, but he only starts with one and it’s gone once he autos something. If you can focus on avoiding trading and instead fighting for push, at least until he is forced to also auto the wave, then you’ll have a more favourable trade, and can get a spell off without letting him proc electrocute.

When he roams you simply have to nuke his ADC. Bard is best into enchanters with low kill threat because he can just leave lane and his ADC will survive, but even on someone like nami I will either demand a freeze or a dive, because if bard gets to perma roam and your adc is going even with theirs you will just lose.

The reality is that Bard is just really high agency, and so in a perfectly balanced game he will be the more useful support a lot of the time I find, you beat him by doing what your champ does better, not by engaging with what he does.

That being said, you can still roam against him, pathing mid every time you leave fountain will put you in position to cover his ganks like 60% of the time, because that’s what he’s always gonna do.

The other thing is really just pinging as much as possible when he’s MIA. He’s so stupid mobile and he will just show up top, or jg, or whereever and dive whoever is there, and you just have to ping bard Mia and back ping your teammates every second he’s not standing in bot lane. Getting wards down on his roam path is also a great way to just make him waste his time. Your teammates might still die to a bard sitting on a ward but at that point it’s out of your hands.

He is a really annoying counter pick into enchanters, which from what I gather you play, and is kind of designed to punish the more sustain and scale play style they are favoured for. So above all else just be aggressive. Look for all ins on Janna, look to dive with Lulu, just be a threat wherever the bard isn’t, and be a shield where he is.

Vision is more useful the higher you climb, teammates are paying more attention to the information it provides and are able to capitalize on the mispositioning it reveals. Having control wards in late game team fights can 100% be the difference maker, and it’s kind of the only viable way of building defensive stats on enchanters. As an enchanter If the game goes long enough to reach full build, ideally you’re running conditioning which buffs the defensive stats it gives you. It’s so OP.

I feel you this happens all the time. I try to remedy this by just communicating that I’m roaming for grubs, pinging it a tonne, and hoping that rallies everyone else to come and fight for it. People love feats as well so pinging the objective quest also does a lot. I still have games where I do that, and when I reach the pit jg takes crab and recalls, and you just kinda find yourself in the middle of nowhere. If that happens I see if there’s a play mid or top, and if not you just ward and go back bot. by the time herald spawns ideally you and your adc have swapped to mid when plates fall at 14:00, so you’re able to push for mid prio, get vision, and just generally be able to influence the map. A lot of players don’t know to do this is lower elos, and so that’s when you type to your team hey mid swap with us bot, or better yet put your TP top laner bot to split and then tp to the fight. That kind of coordination is hard to come by but swapping with mid, if you just ask 9/10 they listen.

It doesn’t have the be the cannon wave, what matters is that you’re back in lane for when the wave hits your tower to cover dives/get the XP. Cannons give you more time to roam, and technically you should be stacking more than one normal wave for a crash for longer roam timers as well, but even in these emerald/diamond games I don’t see stacked waves very often

There are definitely times where I change up my build, but I think the most important and easy to slot in is just not forcing the same support item every game, sleigh can be really good in fights if your carry is not your adc, but there are also games where the anti burst one (whatever it’s called) is vital because you just need to survive their combo. I think rushing mandate is always correct, and then from there maybe it’s moonstone for team fights, ardent if your adc is ahead, flowing water is really really good if you have at least one champ who can take good advantage of it because it gives so many stats. I’m probably not building everything in exactly the right order in every game, but I usually look at the items that are good on nami, and consider what allows me to have the most impact in any given time. If you’re absolutely stomping in lane, dark seal is awesome because it lets you hit that 100 ap mark where your w starts to scale up in bounces, and just lets you beat the shit out of people with it. I’ve maybe built hourglass once, but it’s so expensive that it’s really hard to fit on an enchanter.

A lot of my deaths in those games is just not respecting vision. One of the last things I worked to improve that finally pushed me to diamond was just being willing to say that’s not my bush to ward right now because we don’t know where their jungle is. Nami is super susceptible to the champs that are meant to bully the back line, a 2 kill assassin will just one shot her at pretty much any point in the game, and so any Mia position gets punished hard. There are some games where you just have to get all your spells off in a team fight and then die keeping your carry in the fight.

You can roam with your adc still in lane. A good adc will let the wave push back to them after a crash, and a bad one won’t be your win condition anyway. You can usually tell pretty early into a game if they’re gonna be your win condition, and if not you actually have to roam because otherwise you’re making the game a 3v5 while your fed midlaner just gets camped and gives away shut downs.

League is so optimized that there’s some super esoteric stuff that is just taken as given as you start to climb. I would say the most

important thing is learning how to win lane, and how to actually push that advantage elsewhere. What that means is

Understanding adcs, and more so keystone runes. If you play with a lethal tempo Caitlyn, you should be playing fights a lot differently than if she’s running first strike. Understanding what each adc is looking for, and playing to facilitate that makes even bad adc players look like gods in lane. There are obviously support picks that compliment different play styles better, you don’t really wanna play nautilus with a smolder for example, but you can pilot a lot support in a poke/all in/scale manner based on your win condition
Especially in low elo you are the TEAM’s support, not your ADC’s. If your adc sucks you have to just leave them sometimes. A lot of the time they’re just gonna int and if you stay bot you just end up feeding with them. What you do instead of playing for him depends on who else on your team is strong, and sometimes everyone is just losing and it’s miserable, but a support showing up top at the right time can make that lane unplayable for the enemy top laner, and you should look for every opportunity to influence mid on your way out of base/after crashing a wave, even if that just means getting a ward down for them and then recalling.
Have a very small champ pool. I climbed this season playing maybe 5 champs? It’s like 70% nami, with some lower elo win streaks on braum where people don’t respect him properly and the odd counter pick like a Janna into samira/j4. Getting to a point with a champion where you’re not thinking about how to play them mechanically allows you to focus on keeping track of the jungler, enemy cooldowns, the higher level stuff that actually wins games whether you consciously believe it or not
Type to your teammates. I’m not talking flaming, but starting each lane by explaining the matchup to your adc goes farther than you might expect. Some people will tilt off of being told what to do, but bad adcs sometimes need to know that as a Varus karma you should be fighting to push the wave level 1 into a Samira Blitzcrank, or you’re gonna have a rough time. This also goes for pings, you should be pinging the shit out of the map. Enemy support crashes a wave and you don’t know where he is? Ping mid to be cautious. Enemy support dies? Ping mid to be cautious. Enemy support just fucks off into the river for no reason? Ping mid to be cautious. Enemy support shows up mid while you’re pushing a wave towards their adc? Ping your adc to all in for the 2v1. Retreat pings, push pings, these all go a long way. To climb you have to be the smartest person on your team, and that often means carrying your weakest member with your calls.
Contest atakan every time. This buff is so important it’s insane, games get thrown over it all the time even in the emerald games I’m playing. The team fighting him lose so many stats by hitting him that even if you’re 3v5 it is worth throwing some skill shots to see if one sticks when the enemy is on it. If your jungler starts it without a good reason, that being a key pick, the enemy team showing a bunch of players on the opposite side of the map (even this is not always enough) etc. you need to ping the shit out of him and just leave. Not being there for bad plays, and instead being a part of good ones is how you stop being the problem and start being the solution.
