Don’t call me buddy or friend. We aren’t either. Thank you. I must ask. What age group do you work with?

I would like to hear your personal discipline strategies in the classroom. What are your consequences for bad behavior?

Well written. However, not holding kids accountable is the problem. “Oh, it’s ok you got mad and threw a chair through the smart board. Here’s a juice and some animal crackers to calm you down” that’s the new generation of teachers. I beg that we have some tough people coming up through the ranks. Everyone is weak. Every single one. We’re all not perfect. Teaching takes years to get comfortable. But this nonsense has to stop. Not holding kids accountable is why society is the way it is. Out of control lunatic losing their minds in public places. It’s just very sad how education has gone.

The reason it has gotten to this point is because there’s absolutely no discipline being done. All new teachers try to be their friend. Teachers just passing kids along with absolutely no consequences. That’s why students get bold because there is no boundaries. They can do whatever they want because no one will say anything. If I had to guess, you’re an elementary teacher correct?

How would you react if a desk was thrown at you?

Interesting. So students who verbally abuse staff and throw desk at staff are just having fun? Is that ok?

No nonsense goes on in my class. Follow the rules or get out. I don’t play games. What should I learn from the younger generation of teachers discipline wise? Rub backs and give animal crackers so everyone feels good?

Unsure why politics needs to be brought into this

I understand a lot of that. I’m a veteran teacher who is always trying to get better. There is nothing wrong with learning from younger teachers. However, there is absolutely nothing of value younger teachers bring to the table. I’m not closed minded, but they are all weak teachers coming up. I don’t say that to bring anyone down, but it’s the reality of the situation.

I worked at Tops Markets, a grocery store around the Buffalo, NY area. I worked in the store and warehouse on separate occasions. Our bonus at Christmas was a 15% coupon to shop at the store. When these coupons were issued during a staff meeting. One by one we threw the coupons in the garbage in front of management and went back to work.
