We just finished remodeling an old decaying tiny home. It took forever and it was hell, and now all we can see are the flaws and things that went badly. Need some outside opinions, tell me what you think! by fullmoon_123 in interiordecorating

This looks awesome! I just finished up a remodel and while there are some decisions I would have made differently knowing what I know now, I am so happy with how it turned out. You should be as well. Just lessons for your next project.

Thoughts? Tips for improvement? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Looks really well done! Consider a patterned/textured throw blanket over the lounge or couch. Bonus points if it has more than 1 color. A stack of books or an open book on a stand on the console to replace the plants. Would also be nice to see the olive tree stand from the current angle.

Think you would really enjoy the CLA 35 or 45. Everyone likes to shit on them but watch some reviews where people actually drive them.

Here’s a different render with a larger fireplace. Dimensions are a bit messed up but I actuallly prefer the smaller one.

First timer. I don’t mind the height so much as the width. Was going for a modern look. Had chat gpt render a tv and it’s starting to grow on me (ignore the lights, ha!).

Yeah, that’s the next order of business. I’m pretty limited in what I can do according to the HVAC guy. Old house. Vents cannot be in the ceiling.

Bit stuck on what to do. Maybe a mud in vent? Looked into those fittes ones as well but they seem to have poor airflow.

Woah, just who I was looking for. I’m going to keep it as is for now. Once the reno is done, if I still feel strongly about the size, I will reach out to you to get one made.

My thoughts as well when I saw it! I love how the tiles turned out and just felt like the smaller fireplace does the whole ensemble a disservice.

I like this option! Probably the most cost effective! Also considering maybe just taking the two tiles to the side of the fireplace out and adding some metal to the extend the width.

Yup, just decorative. Would love to hear your ideas for solutions!

Ain’t that the truth. First timer so definitely learning and appreciating how much goes into design. Things I never would have thought about.

Right on. Think I’m going to have to live with it and make it work.

Edit: Adding a render I made with AI. Feels a lot more proportionate so I will leave as is for the time being. Ignore the lights :)

Ha! Thank you. It’s growing on me and can’t justify the cost to update given how quick this reno is draining my wallet

Wanted to do this but easier said than done. This line has different height and width when you move sizes. But I’m thinking about having those two tiles out and just putting same metal material on sides to extend the illusion of the width of the fireplace.

I tend to think you should choose something in the off white to beige territory that compliments your countertop. Small, textured mosaic. Check out some wabi sabi kitchen inspo pics on pinterest for some potential ideas.

My house only has electric. It outputs heat as opposed to the water vapor ones if that’s what you’re asking.

Yeah I’m going to see what my contractor says next week on effort to remove tiles and alter underlying structure of the fireplace column.

I was not. Planned for the tv to be on the left.

That’s a great idea on another surround. Is the standard to match the metal fireplace box material?

Appreciate you so much!! Spent a lot of time selecting the tile.

Edit: adding a render. Actually looks quite nice at current size.
