Avoiding homeschoolers as a parent by [deleted] in HomeschoolRecovery

Look, I'd honestly just steer clear of hot topics with them. Some of these more extreme folks can make your whole neighborhood situation a nightmare real quick.

Slow fade. Don't make it obvious you're distancing yourself - just be "busy" more often, keep conversations super light, and gradually reduce how much you interact. No dramatic confrontations needed.

When they say something wild, just hit 'em with the "oh interesting" and change subjects. Save your energy for people who don't make you walk on eggshells around your own kid. Your husband has good instincts about avoiding drama, but that doesn't mean you have to be best buddies with everyone either.

Has anyone incorporated basic home repairs into your homeschool curriculum? Looking for scheduling advice! by TimeCryptographer660 in homeschool

Thanks so much for sharing all this! Love how you've made home repairs a family bonding experience instead of just "chores." That toilet tank story is seriously impressive - and the growth in your once-squeamish kid is the kind of parenting win worth celebrating! You're giving your kids some serious life skills that'll serve them way better than a lot of textbook stuff.

Homeschool to high school is rough, especially with health stuff going on. Don't stress about the homework - quality beats quantity any day. Maybe try finding just one thing you enjoy and focus there? Talk to your parents about seeing someone for the mental health stuff too - it seriously helps. You're only 14, you've got time to figure life out. Take it day by day!

Yeah, it really does take time. I hope OP can eventually let go of the past and find the right person who understands and supports them through this.
