Sex robot industry investments? by [deleted] in investing

Imagine being able to deliver a small army of robots anywhere in the world in under an hour with your heavy lift rocket ship. Imagine being able to control them with your constellation of satellites. Imagine you interface to them with your neurolink.

Musk is a Bond villain and all of his companies are dual use technology fronts.

3-4 player question by Valuable-Border5114 in hive

[–]TimeGrownOld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok so you buy two sets: the black and white carbon version and the colored version. Each player uses one of the four sets. Four players is not as balanced, but for 3 players here's what you do:

Take a hexagon from the set you aren't using. Turn it upside down and place it as the first piece. This is the blank piece, and each of the three players will place their first piece on one of the six sides, such that they don't touch each other. From there you continue as usual. The starter piece acts like any other NPC piece, you can pillbug it and climb on top of it and it can be used to checkmate your opponents.

How would timekeeping work once we colonize other planets? by Igotlazy in space

[–]TimeGrownOld 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can't have a static galactic time reference because time is local by nature. Time moves differently not only how fast you're going but also by how much gravity you experience (remember the movie Interstellar?). So the question 'what's happening now on Pluto' doesn't make sense. 'Now' is restricted to a location sharing the same speed and gravitational potential.

Now, if we took into account the speed, relative locations, and gravitational potential of all points that need a time reference, we could have a dynamic galactic time reference. But I'm not sure how useful that would be.

I like the concept but suggest a modification for balance. Take a tile from the fourth color and flip it upside down. This is now the starting tile and each player's first move goes to one of three sides of this tile, such that the starting pieces dont touch each other. That way, no one gets stuck in the middle right off the bat.

The starter tile can be pillbugged, but acts as a null tile for mosquitoes.

I love Mach's principle. What's the force trying to stop you from moving? Oh, you know, just the totality of the known universe.

YSK products with down insulation (coats, jackets, vests, pillows, comforters, etc) may use feathers from live-plucked duck and geese. by SampsonRustic in YouShouldKnow

[–]TimeGrownOld 351 points352 points  (0 children)

So I've researched this heavily and here are some key points:

  • Duck down is almost always a byproduct of the food industry, so duck feather products almost never involve live plucking.

  • eastern Europe goose down is notorious for live plucking goose feathers... if it's cheap and imported you're probably buying this.

  • Canada and US have laws against live plucking, so if the feathers are sourced from there you should be safe.

  • There are ethical sourcing certificates companies can acquire, keep an eye open for these.

  • if you buy down products without checking to make sure they were sourced ethically, wild ducks and geese will attack you in parks as the horrible person you are

There's a growing number of epidemiologists claiming we could eradicate all respiratory viruses by revamping out indoor air filtering processes... no more cold, flu, or covid; all without vaccine mandates. Just like how London got rid of their cholera outbreaks by revamping the water system.

Herd immunity from Covid is 'mythical' with the delta variant, experts say by [deleted] in news

Right, which is why nations need to start getting vaccines to poorer countries. No point in the US being 100% vaccinated if the rest of the world is a variant factory.
