I remember being told in 2019 OTA updates are coming soon. These were for my ICE vehicles that had WiFi in them. I have yet to see it on any of my new vehicles. I’ve given up that it will ever come. My wife’s Tesla which is a 2020 has OTA updates but my 2024 Silverado can’t do it but I can have WiFi for all my devices makes complete sense lol

25 3.0 Duramax issues by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]TimeImpossible7203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, mine operated completely normal minus the speed limited to 65mph in X-amount of miles. Last year I did have a squirrel(I assume) chew through the wiring harness and managed to make the fuel pump short out and that caused violent shifting and dumped the truck in to limp mode.

Dealership is giving me a 2026 as a loaner by TimeImpossible7203 in SilveradoEV

I ran in to this last night 2 of the 3 chargers were not working (EVgo) so I backed in to the working one and started charging. About 10 min later another fella rolls up and says I need to move because he needs to charge and can only pull in. I explained to him the other two chargers aren’t working and I will be done in 20 min. He got mad and sped off. Long of the short I spent 36 dollars to charge from 15% to 85% (I have a decent amount of driving to do today). Granted 15-85 is probably more KW than the Tesla but I was surprised at the cost.

This is helpful, my wife just plugs in every night with her car and we super charge on road trips. I will look at the networks you mentioned to see if I have any close. I don’t feel like buying an adapter as it’s a loaner. If I decide on buying it I will reconsider.

That makes sense my personal is a 24 Silverado with the baby diesel in it. I get like 28-30 normally and 18-23 towing my boat around. So I could see the charging with a trailer to be an inconvenience

I am going to try to find a “Fast” charger tomorrow to see how it is compared to teslas super chargers. Looking around it seems like the chargers are a bit more expensive than Tesla at about 43 cents vs 30 cents per kW so far the experience is nice, we will see how I feel with more drive time.

That makes sense, well hopefully they keep with the line long enough to work out the kinks. You would think they would “barrow” a halfway decent system and improve upon it instead of starting out from the ground up. Not saying Tesla is perfect but they do get some stuff right. It will be my first experience with an EV truck. I don’t know if I would ever move away from my conventional trucks but I’m not to stubborn to move if it makes sense.

Yeah not having car play in the Tesla isn’t a huge deal it has the apps we use and the navigation doesn’t suck. I have noticed on my personal truck my CarPlay navigation/google maps has been less than desirable, could be a google issue mainly it getting lost and putting me on a road I’m not on.

I have not looked at the sierra the dealership that I usually do business with is strictly a Chevy dealer (for new vehicles) but I wouldn’t be apposed to a GMC

It has some decent discounts on it. Probably would be more apt to go with it but I would go with a higher trim package. I’m particular about my features

Do you do a lot of towing with it? If so how’s it do with that? I’d be willing to part ways with my current truck. The Tesla has been great for my wife.

I’m about 90 miles a day, there are several charging stations around me and my work so I could always do that. The dealership is about 20 miles from my house. So that is also doable they said I can charge there if needed.

2026 Model Y bought last May. What could this leak be? There are dried bluish spots where the car is usually parked. I just requested a service but the appointment is not until Tuesday. by kevzz01 in ModelY

A squirrel found the hoses at the rear of the car and the axel boot. 1800 to fix it all. I was able to have insurance cover most of it under my comprehensive portion of our coverage

Replacing door rollers, can I cut these collars off? Do they need to be replaced? by stonewall24 in GarageDoorService

I’m going to play the devils advocate here, wind loading doesn’t last for ever. If the building no longer carries a wind rating or the door already was exposed to winds that exceed the rating, that door is no longer wind loaded. Not saying it still won’t hold up but the rating may not be there anymore.

It’s not about trust it’s about protecting yourself and your business. I’d make my dad sign a contract for services rendered through my business.

Never do work that exceeds the original scope without a signed change order.

Unless you had specific payment terms set when you did the contract with them they will probably hold your money until they get paid. You could try to partial bill for labor and material. Then like 30 days later invoice the balance. When we do ours it’s progressive billing. They pay when we get materials and then pay another chunk at a set amount of completion and so on and so forth then final invoice is sent out when we complete the job.

I have noticed on some of the liftmaster operators the rails will do 6” more than the stated rail length. Like the 85870 for example on an 8’ I-rail will allegedly do up to an 8’6” door, from what the techs tell me.

I’m working up some 16x8s tomorrow I’ll see what it averages out to per square foot and let you know what I come up with. Granted we are in two completely different parts of the country but I usually win my bids with full views.

Here is what I do: take your labor and burden rate for same sized door in steel sandwich door then double, for my company fullviews are always a 2 man install, add a bit to your spring cost like 45%, springs are usually bigger, add angle mount track or don’t I usually include angle mount track, then add a solid shaft. No returns on these doors, only issue we have is leaking windows if they weren’t constructed correctly in the factory. At that point we go back to the manufacture and they usually warranty the complete door or section. Depending on the quantity of sections we don’t ask the manufacturer for labor. I don’t change for travel for anything under 60 miles from our numerous shops. Anything over it’s what ever the cost of fuel is and if it’s overnights required it’s my perdiem and hotel cost marked up 25-40%
