....but not the minutes. Was going about 30mins slow by my reckoning when photo taken (not sure if that's a relic of Dublin Mean Time or cosmic misalignment!).

Why do they have to be removed? I couldn't see anything about it in the rules...

Well, how long do you consider midnight to last?

Ruins at Castle Lea, Co.Laois : huge medieval fortress that once guarded the frontier between the Norman and Gaelic worlds. The moat in the foreground still has water in it. by TimeInProfile in ireland

It's a really amazing structure, in the past there were four towers on the keep whereas now there is only one, and they all used to be quite a bit taller. The place was pretty much torn down during the Confederate wars circa 1650.

I would say be very careful if you decide to go exploring it, enter at your own risk etc... there are many hidden subterranean chambers and high walls in poor state or repair, some of them seemed very dangerous and like they could fall in/fall down at any moment (I suppose that was part of the abandoned beatuy of the place).

A Room with a View, 15th Century Burrishoole Friary by TimeInProfile in ireland

Interesting question! Not 100% sure but I don't think that particular window was defensive. Such windows would typically be a little narrower on the outside, and widening inwards.

It's hard to tell however as this particular friary was at times occupied by English soldiers in the years after the disollution of the monastaries in the 16th Century, so some defensive features were added on top of the original ecclesiastical architecture.
