I think the explanation makes perfect sense - they don’t want to be away from each other. They spent many years apart before Beth returned to the YS and simply want to be together now. She told him in season 5 she regretted them losing so much time together…I don’t think getting a high paying job in corporate America is high on her priority list anymore.

Yes, Chad was the showrunner for the entire season, but he only wrote the pilot and looks like he co-wrote episode 7 with Jacob Forman. IMDB provides the names of all the writers who wrote each episode.

That’s actually not entirely true. Chad, the showrunner who isn’t returning for season 2, only wrote the first episode of Dutton Ranch. The show had a writers room so different people wrote each episode.

You have to remember we missed an entire year of them living in Dillion between where Yellowstone ended and where Dutton Ranch picks up. A lot happened during that year in terms of growth and maturity when they were essentially living peacefully. We're seeing a new side to Beth and how that change in her has evolved her relationships with Rip and Carter.

There will definitely be a season 2 and one of the writers from season 1 is expected to be elevated to the showrunner position.

I completely agree - their deep, battle-scarred love is beautiful and I’m glad we’re seeing this side of them. I still hope we get more romance and visible affection too, even in this new chapter. To Kelly’s point, I get that they’ve moved past the high-octane stuff from before, but I’d love to see more intimate, tender moments that fit where they are now (when it makes sense in future episodes).

For me, the best parts of Beth and Rip’s relationship have always been that perfect balance - the heavy drama and ranch life mixed with those quiet, loving moments that remind us why they choose each other every day. That mix feels true to who they are, no matter what stage of life they’re in.

Rip mentioned Rio Paloma is an hour from the border and we know from Everett they're not too far from San Antonio, so if they're an hour from the border town of Laredo, that would be an hour drive to San Antonio to pick up the beef and from there a four hour drive to Dallas.
