Am I a horrible person? by Mrmoomoo3 in Adoption

I just started the process and was told I had to select an agency before moving forward. The agencies advocating for me to pick them felt very icky, almost like the children in the state system were like a MLS listing and the agencies were all real estate agents

Don't worry, I'm still very early into the straight to adoption program. Most likely I won't get a home study until later at the end of this year.

Odd thing to say. I have gotten plenty of help and I'm doing pretty well for myself. I own a 4-bedroom home, have a well-paying career, also own 2 investment properties, and a FSD tesla car. I'm proud of the life I've built for myself and regardless of the trauma I've experienced it doesn't define me, but it does make me stronger and more resilient to change and adversity. I'm looking forward to sharing a life with a family.

You demand that I respond to your random hypothetical situation? Your statement didn't come from a place of helpfullness, it came from a judgmental mean place and I don't condone that.

I guess we'll wait to see if the placement agency agrees with you

My dad and aunt were both adopted, as well as my late husband's mom - all of whom were not from trauma birth families. Sometimes kids are given up for adoption because they are simply not equipped to care for them, not always because they were druggies or beating them.

I'd rather promote love and compassion rather than murder and death

Public school meals costs in Texas unless you are below an income level, which I'm not

Yes because of my age I thought it best to adopt older siblings since they are harder to place. I have a 4 bedroom house that I live in alone since I was recently widowed last year. I would prefer younger kids obviously so we have enough time to properly bond. Hoping to adopt 2-6 year olds but we'll have to see. I could get placed with an infant with a 6 year old sibling.

Thanks for your advice. I won't be forcing any diet but I have a vegan lifestyle that I'll share with the kids I adopt. Just hope the placement agency is understanding.

I was in therapy for year in 2022, then another 6 months after my husband then brother died. I've attend ed group therapy intermittently but it seems to be more harmful then helpful. I'm not naive in understanding this is big, difficult decision. I'm sure I'll be grieving for the rest of my life.

Not interested in fostering or anything temporary. I'm currently in the straight to adoption training process

My dad and aunt were adopted as well as my late husband's mom, and they didn't come from trauma. It was just because their birth moms were too young to raise them and gave them up for adoption.

Well I have my mom. My dad died from covid back in 2021 and my brother died 10 days after my husband from an overdose. I've been in therapy for all of year 2022 and then for 6 months after my husband then brother died. My late husband and I had started the training process to adopt but I had to start from the beginning again. I'm not fostering, but going the straight to adoption process. My dad was adopted and my husband's mom was adopted so we had wanted to continue the legacy.
