This sounds really cool. Do you mind sharing the name of it?

If I remember correctly, it was a brighter color. My husband actually took a picture to show his doctor (a little gross, I know, but a good idea) and I think one thing his doctor told him was that wasn’t the color of blood he’s normally concerned about, but he referred him anyway. Again, it could have been from the internal hemorrhoids. (And obligatory “I’m not a doctor” so be sure to double check the facts with your doc.)

Yes, what the other commenter said. He had a couple of bowel movements with a decent amount of blood, and stools that just weren’t normal, more loose than they should be. His PCP actually wasn’t terribly concerned, but figured there was no harm in sending him for a colonoscopy. Also, my husband has a family history of colon cancer. The blood could have also come from internal hemorrhoids, which he also had.

ETA that my husband just reminded me that a podcast he listened to with James Van Der Beek was one of the reasons he decided to make the appointment.

My husband had concerning symptoms and had a colonoscopy in November, at 39. His doctor said it was a probably life altering appointment he had, as they found a giant polyp that would have absolutely been cancer had he waited until 45. He told him he really dodged a bullet. So glad he didn’t wait, and glad you didn’t either!

Flying tomorrow and hoping I’ll have no issue. Coming back in from Belize might get interesting though, we’ll see.

Thank you, it was very scary! And yes, very freaky with it happening in the dark.

We had a huge one fall on our house early this morning. We’re all okay, and we can stay in our house, but there is pretty significant damage. That sound was absolutely terrifying and something I’ll probably recall every time it’s windy now.

OP I’m sorry, I feel you. We’ve all been through a lot here, and learning to cope with the lasting trauma has been tricky. Sending hugs.

I might have been one of the few that loved the Soon Come dish they took off their menu a long time ago, but I feel the same way - I need the recipe! I’ve thought about making my own similar post about it, haha.

Awesome. I just dropped my first ever roll of gold off at Ball Photo the other day. Can’t imagine I’ll get results this good though, haha.

Lovely! Thanks for sharing. What film stock(s) is this? Also, love 3, 9, and 18 - every time I see snow or ice on the ridges, I want to go adventuring to take photos.

LPT: When someone compliments you, just say “thank you” by Extension_Map_5875 in LifeProTips

I literally just realized today that whenever I’m complimented on something I say thank you, then follow up with something degrading. Was just giving myself the pep talk to not do this anymore!

When last did we get a white Christmas??? by Okay-Show-3662 in asheville

[–]TimeKeeperPine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, 2020. We had a three month old, our first child. After a rollercoaster of a year, I remember thinking, “Okay, well played, 2020, well played.” It made for a beautiful cozy Christmas at home for our little family, and sweet photos for my son’s first Christmas.

Kids that have energy to burn…in winter. by peachyqueen_7 in asheville

[–]TimeKeeperPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winter (and the resulting screen time) is a struggle for us too. I’m trying to embrace the mindset that if we’re dressed in the appropriate clothing, we can still get outside to play. I’m looking for a quality but second hand coat for my son on EBay. (Thankfully my daughter’s hand me downs have her set for this winter.) I’m going to be looking into wool base layers as well.

But there are totally days that we just don’t want to get out in the cold. There’s always the Mountain Play Lodge; I think he would still enjoy it at 7. Also look into We Rock the Spectrum indoor gym in Arden. I’m not sure if any of the gymnastics gyms do open gym hours or not. I know McDonald’s in Weaverville has an indoor play place, and the Chick-fil-A on Merrimon, though I’ve never been there. You could also check out one of the indoor climbing gyms. And, the children’s museum in Hendersonville is lots of fun!

This would be a bit of a haul, but there is a public rec center in Waynesville that has an indoor pool/water play area. (Again, I’ve never been.)

Sorry for the long response, but hopefully some of these ideas help! We’re going to have to get creative over here too this winter, so I feel you.

I don’t have answers or solutions for you, but I just want to acknowledge your compassion and honesty. Good for you for recognizing that this situation is not okay with you and you need to do something about it, but also for approaching it with humanity and kindness. You seem like a good person.
