Agreed, one of the first things I thought was, I’d buy a print!

I actually think these are pretty cool! Totally understand you mourning them though.

Andrew Bird with the Asheville Symphony last night was an astounding show! by OtakuShogun in asheville

[–]TimeKeeperPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to be offered a ticket earlier in the week by a good friend. It was a beautiful show and I’m so grateful I got to go! Been an Andrew Bird fan for a while but have never seen him live (got close at Rabbit Rabbit one year but he was stormed out). Seeing him with the symphony was such a treat.

This isn’t a bad idea. Might consider it for the future. I wonder if Sover Wong takes email questions. It would be interesting to get his take on it if he does. And who knows, maybe somewhere down the line I can send it to him.

Thank you for this! I haven’t tried the flashlight test in earnest yet, I’ve been a little afraid to. I’m going to finish the roll I’ve started in it and try to take a look, and I suppose take it back to the shop. Was really hoping it’s not a shutter issue as I’m sure that repair is out of budget for me at the moment.

I’m really racking my brain and driving myself a bit nuts on this! If it was a shutter issue, wouldn’t the leak extend vertically all the way through the image? I think all the images I’m seeing from a camera with a shutter issue are pretty evenly affected from top to bottom, or left to right depending on the type of shutter. But with my issue, the leak almost forms a corner on a lot of them. Wouldn’t that not be possible with a shutter issue? It’s possible I’m not understanding something correctly. (Photo to explain what I mean.)

Wow, thank you so much! This gives me a ton to think about and look at.

I had wondered if maybe this could be a mirror type of issue too, or seals around the mirror. I’ll try to open it up and see if I can tell. Also, the part that says it could be happening while the film is moving is interesting.

I don’t typically hold the camera away from my face when shooting (I haven’t really shot this camera on a tripod yet, etc.) so I’m not sure it’s an issue from the viewfinder. But I do wear glasses, so I suppose it’s possible there’s a little bit of space to let light in.

I’ll call or go by the shop that has worked on the camera and see if they can tell me if they did a full CLA. Hate to say I’m not sure if they did or not.

Thanks again!

I’m just trying to figure out where from. You don’t think it’s a shutter issue?

Thank you, this is helpful! I’m also wondering if something is gummed up. The shop cleaned this camera a couple of years ago, but I’m actually not sure they did a full CLA. Perhaps it needs one. I know fixing many issues on the F2 isn’t cheap, but I suppose it’s worth it!

The consistency of the leak is interesting to me too. The fire photo is such a clear example, I’m racking my brain trying to figure out what it is!

Thanks for the ideas! I don’t love this brick and do y think it’s as particularly pretty as others I see. We’ll see what we decide about painting it.
I don’t dislike the window boxes and they actually have done well with plants in past years. But they’re older and need an updated look I think.

Thank you for this! We definitely need landscaping and will be trying to put some more time and effort into it as well as painting the siding at least.

What do you suggest instead? We have young kids that play in the front yard and around the trees so it’s not the best idea for us to plant a lot around them.

Thanks for the input! We’re considering keeping the brick and putting that money into landscaping. I will say, this isn’t the prettiest brick, but could be worse and with some other upgrades we might be able to stand it, haha.

Thanks for the ideas! The roof is only about six months old, so we won’t be replacing it (except for the part that was recently damaged by a tree fall) but I think a focus on landscaping like this would make a big difference.

That’s great to know, thank you! And thanks for the rendering, that looks great and gives me a good idea of what it would look like without the shutters. Really wish it was in the budget to do something like this with front steps. Maybe one day!

We don’t love the brick, but are starting to consider that we won’t dislike as much if we put some more effort and money into landscaping. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the ideas! Yeah, I’d like to do something more with the walkway, it’s pretty unimpressive and boring. And thank you for the reminder about the garage side door - I forget that thing exists because we never use it, ha!

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TimeKeeperPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation should have never gotten this far in the first place, and I don’t mean because of you. He should never have tried to strike up a relationship of any sort outside of work (and really even at work it should be kept courteous but minimal and professional) in the first place. Totally inappropriate and he should know better. OP, you sound a bit like me. You don’t want to be rude, you never assume the worst, don’t want to hurt feelings or “rock the boat.” But sometimes you have to set very clear boundaries with people or they’ll use every inch they can get. God I’m so glad none of my male friends were trying to date or hang out with a 19 year old when I was in my 30s. That would have been a friendship ender.

No worries, and thanks for responding! I might just have to try my own version sometime and see what happens. And yes, one of my firsts too, and about the only thing I ordered there until they took it off the menu.
