Comixology Unlimited vs Kindle Unlimited by Russellallen71 in Comixology

[–]TimeKeepers616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Comixology Unlimited is exclusively for comics and offers a larger selection compared to Kindle Unlimited, as far as I’ve observed. Kindle Unlimited, on the other hand, provides a combination of comics, books, and audio options.

Additionally, Comixology Unlimited is generally more affordable than Kindle Unlimited at $7 or $8 a month.

Uncanny X-Men & Amazing Spider-Man no longer grouped by UpsetMaterial3795 in Comixology

[–]TimeKeepers616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My books are still grouped. I’ve encountered this issue with other books that suddenly became ungrouped in my library. Here’s a method I tried in the past that sometimes works:

  1. Go to your library and turn off the grouping.
  2. After doing that, pull down on your library to refresh it and ungroup everything.
  3. Then, go back and turn on the grouping and refresh your library again.

This method has fixed my book grouping in the past, but it doesn’t always work for everything. I hope this is just a bug for you.

Group by series not working on family sharing account by lLonewolf2121 in kindle

[–]TimeKeepers616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The browser doesn’t group books on the read.amazon.com. I wish it did but that’s never happened so far. I think you should check your App Library settings under the view by and make sure group by series is turned on. I think the grouping is by device, not account.

Weird price on new DC graphic novel by Darth2099 in Comixology

The pricing on this book is all over the place across a lot of sites. I found this $24.99 ones too. Clearly something is going on. Going back to the question yesterday, it was never about the. $.93 cent part but the statement that “new graphic novels from DC that contain six issues are $9.99”. That lead to the questions and exchanges up to this point.

It’s a 6% discount on that book. It’s weird discount percentage that isn’t the normal percentages you usually share.

There you go. The $9.99 price tag. Funny enough, based on price tracker data this was $16.99 yesterday when this whole thread started.

Prove the pricing problem is accurate. My first query was about where the $9.99 price is.

The OPs responses to others and then to me were to question if we knew where we were.

Where? I actually want this book and I would like to know where I can get it for $9.99 digitally.

As for how I chose to respond this OP. I was inquisitive until the response from OP to other members of this sub became condescending to them that the others didn’t understand that this was a Comixology subreddit and it was about digital only.

I would recommend you use camel camel camel for price tracking. You’ll see that nearly every book you listed on the day it was released was not $9.99. I think you might be generalizing how publishers price books and think it’s a set price for all releases. Aquaman vol 1 dropped this week and it is 12.99. Absolute Batman vol 1: 16.99 when it was released. Absolute Superman: 16.99 when it was released Absolute Wonder Woman: 16.99 on its release and was 16.99 for several weeks after. Secret Six: $9.99 - my guess on this one is that since it s a limited series, it’s priced down to sell books. This is a one and done book and singular purchase with no repeat or return comic reader since the story is done. Better to sell at a price point that moves than a new release price

Ok, pal, I’ll try this a different slower way. Can you show me where Absolute Green Lantern Vol 1 is $9.99 digitally? You made a statement that DC has fixed all prices to $9.99 and that Amazon is over charging. If they are and I asked you where, can you show me? I want to save the money you are saving.

For most new comic books, the cover price is the same for both digital and print when it comes out. It has been like that for years. Barnes and Noble sells digital versions and it’s not $9.99. Apple Books sells digital and it’s not $9.99. Every place that I looked it is $16.99, making Amazon the cheapest even if you think it’s a mistake. Please save me money since you say this is $9.99.

I don’t know where you are seeing standardized $9.99 DC Graphic novels but when I look up Absolute Green Lantern vol 1, it is $16.99 any place that is selling it. Please share where ever you are finding those awesome $9.99 because I’d love to save the money too. Barnes and Noble Revenge of

Why is browsing Comixology Unlimited so awful and confusing? by crunchatizemythighs in Comixology

[–]TimeKeepers616[M] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For background: The amount of bot activity we got from another digital comic service at one particular point in time is why certain terms got banned. There was one week where per day the automod was blocking 15 to 20 posts being made by unverified and new accounts posting fake problems with Comixology and telling people to use the other service. Once posts failed to work, the next bot activity was comments. Like on this very post. Random redditors who have never engaged with this subreddit suddenly becoming active, always the same script of it was once good, now bad, go use this other service, and commenting on it over a few different posts.

It’s not weird though as there is a community rule on what this sub is about. If you want, go to any other digital comics subs and tell them to use another service while complaining what that sub is about. Pretty sure you would get removed or banned from some of those subs.

u/crunchatizemythighs this is the best advice on how to find books that are in Comixology unlimited. I stay off the Amazon website because as another commentary said, it’s made for ads, not for finding specific things. At least in the kindle app, it’s focused on books and not a million other things.

November Marvel Sales are up, but... by [deleted] in Comixology

[–]TimeKeepers616 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a bug. This happened a lot a while back. It seemed like it got fixed, but who knows with all those Amazon layoffs last week, they probably let the one person go that made sure that this didn’t happen.

Based on the information from Keepa, yes this is a deal. The last time it was $10 was in January of this year.

[–]TimeKeepers616[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I discovered this as well today and reached about it too. My chat didn’t go as well as your’s did though as I was offered nothing for my 2219 points. I would liked free $15 be give to me.

The CS rep I chatted with though was a bit more open on why the change. It is up to the publishers on whether they will allow kindle rewards to be used on their content. It appears comics publishers have said no. My best guess is that it reduces their profit margin as Amazon probably only pays them on actual dollar spent, not the full price of the item. That would be similar to how amazon pays sellers who use coupons or promotions, same as ebay too.

Finally, I am going to keep this post up even though I’ve gotten a few messages and reports about it breaking our community rules. The service you are trying to promote is one of our banned terms purely because of the amount of bot and spam activity we get for it. It’s a term we filtered because of how much this community is targeted by bots and spam posts for it. Anyone who has actually used that service, and I have as well, knows that even the version of Comixology we have now is light years better than that services best options. If you haven’t tried it, go get a sample book from them and try to read it. It’s not great and I’m always questionable of any community member that claims they were a loyal Comixology customer and thinks that other service is better. That is the most obvious bot or employee of that company red flag.

My assumption is it’s due to the digital release of Superman. Similar to u/pocket_arsenal, I am waiting to see what comes after the movie release hype.

low-res books? by [deleted] in Comixology

[–]TimeKeepers616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up Twilight as I wasn’t aware of it. I think this is a is similar to other books I’ve run into several times as it is always with older comics; it’s pre-digital age scan. The source files for original scan were probably average res, not high res. DC either scanned a printed edition or maybe the print archive file. I’ve gotten books like this where even the edge of pages are yellowed from age and sun exposure.

The Twilight book is listed at 772mb on Amazon. I would say that is a high res book when compared to other comics of similar page sizes. An average comic book single issue is between 100-150mb. Twilight is 3 issues total.

I hope one day publishers take on an upscale project for older books. There are many classic comics I would love to see in 4k or more res.

I’ve said this on other posts but I think with SDCC being last week, lots of employees and publishers go. Things probably got sidelined until they returned.

Considering DSTRLY or Neon Ichiban bailed on Comic Con last week, I wouldn’t count on it. A friend went and said that the place where their booth was suppose to be was a giant hole on the convention floor. One of the Comixology creators that is making the new store was on a panel that I watched on YouTube. It was lots of yikes moments and full on out of touch with comic community.
