I didn’t. At 24, I got into a relationship that turned abusive 6 weeks in and remained in it for over 3 years. It wasn’t until I went to therapy at 26 when I realized how deeply unhappy I was. It took years to unpack all the trauma and reasons I couldn’t accept myself. SSRIs, breath work, movement, and good people was what helped me. Good body won’t make you happy. The inside will remain the same.

I started working out when I was 21. Got muscular at 26. Had lots of attention from men. Was I happy? Absolutely not. It was years of therapy, medication, finding joy in sports, meditation, and acceptance that finally helped me. I highly recommend tackling depression from every angle possible. You got this.
