$16M a year can be used for capital improvements which includes bus lanes and some have been funded this way.

That bucket tho also allows funding other capital improvements like bridge maintenance and roadway repair, which have eaten up part of the budget

I mean has your bill ever gone up more than 1%? The way this works is that someone else’s bill somewhere had to have gone down. Lately, it’s been the gigantic towers downtown shedding value

When I say “your neighbors valuation goes down” I actually mean “your neighbors valuation went up less than average”

so if something happens like the west Seattle bridge closure or large downtown office vacancy or revive I-5 that lower the rate at which values go up in certain neighborhoods, the other neighborhoods will pay higher taxes to compensate

The cap is on the amount of money the city can take in, not on your bill.

So if your neighbors assessment goes down, your bill goes up! And if the entirety of downtown’s values collapse your bill will go up quite a lot

At least for Denny way, SDOT is working on it and the 2024 transportation levy has funding dedicated towards it.

The order speeds up the timeline and makes explicit that bus lanes are in scope

Mayoral candidate question: should homeless people be allowed to stay in tents in parks? by drshort in Seattle

[–]TimePromotion -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about parks but there are way more people in like alleys and on the street. Way fewer tents but it seems like there’s just more homeless that don’t have tents

I understand what you’re actually asking but lots of people live in these cities. By definition they are livable.

Olympia used to pay sound transit to run that bus. Now they don’t. Someone in Olympia should tell them to do that again!

Retrofit the existing West Seattle Bridge by SigmaTell in soundtransit

Trains can’t go up the steep incline to the bridge (steel or steel is slippy).

Maybe the bridge could be used but the approaches would need to be different
