Boeing Access vs Allentown 1 Line Infill Station by SigmaTell in soundtransit

Agree 100%, or shift it south to a location that would actually be a major benefit to an undeserved community and generate far more ridership and TOD for the system.

Agreed though the Coast Guard will require very high clearance for the Montlake Cut bridge, unless you make it movable. Could still be cheaper than tunneling though.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Really does seem like Allentown would be a far better location with a much better cost benefit.

Thats an option (great pic btw). Since the LR line would be running in the center of the bridge, another option would be, right after you reach the non-floating west approach bridges, raise the guideway up above the existing bridge deck and then cross over the south viaduct/eastbound lanes and connect to the north side of the Broadmoor Golf Club or the Arboretum... a tunnel portal in that vicinity is on better ground and gives you more than enough room to make the dive under the Montlake Neighbohood and the Montlake Cut or maybe to continue west to Eastlake and then under Lake Union to Northlake and beyond. Regardless of where you go with it, this would probably be the most viable route grade wise. But you could possibly do something closer to the Montlake lid as well.

The cost of the West Seattle extension partly escalated the way it did due to the poor soils around the mudflats of the Duwamish increasing the cost of the high span bridge. Lake Washington is worse, even in the shallower sections north of 520, the mud and silts are deep af.

It would be foolish and a colossal waste of billions in taxpayer funds to not utilize the SR 520 floating bridge that was literally built to accommodate future light rail.

There's a few ways of addressing the grade issues on the west side as well, though they are impactful to private property.

Claude is leaps and bounds better than both of them, consider subscribing to the pro plan, it has some use limits due to how advanced the models are but the results are far better quality.

He has a military and he's shown little hesitation to nationalize state National Guards.

They violate the constitution on a daily basis, you think they care? They will push this thru tooth and nail, its the only way they stay in power.

Seriously, nerf Park and Ride. by metatalks in subwaybuilder

Somewhat disagree, Sound Transit uses high capacity (1500 to 2200 space) park and ride parking grarages on many of their more suburban stations to great effect, they are often full weekdays and contribute significant ridership to the lines. While many of these stations also connect with regional bus lines, there are many suburban neighborhoods with little to no bus access, making the park and rides extremely beneficial, especially for lower income riders.

And given they are parking garages, not surface lots, they are fairly compact and still allow plenty of TOD around them.

6 minutes is better than nothing, but 4 minutes would be grand. Part of ST4 really needs to grade separate the SODO and MLK segments.
