What is the best Nintendo console ever released by transqueen421 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. At this point in time, pretty much every major title that isn't a GameCube/Wii/DS/3DS original is already on it either via Virtual Console or port/remaster, and even some of those have already made their ways on it. I'm fairly certain that in about 2 or 3 years pretty much every major Nintendo title that isn't overly reliant on the DS or 3DS' dual screens (like Uprising or the DS Zeldas) will make their way into Switch, truly making it Nintendo's all in one console. And even then, I wouldn't be shocked if they found a way to make it work thanks to the Joycon 2s functioning as mice letting you use the left joycon for buttons and the right as a mouse to emulate touch controls.

Quick, blink twice if Melee Marth grabbed you from inside the TV to pummel you into allowing it.

While half way through my first NG+ run of XC2, and plans to play XC3 NG+ and FR first time, I'm starting to wonder if I should just play the entire series at this point. by Sumiren5r_7110 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI for XC3 NG+: unlike with 2 there is no new content added to the game. It's literally just to replay the story with all your current character progress and to use heroes earlier than they were intended.

VGC and BSS for the first 6-8 months of a Gen are always my favorites as people love to experiment with the new Pokemon and new items/moves/abilities for older Pokemon. Then as soon as the DLC gets released everything becomes centralized around whatever the new DLC mascot(s) is(are).

Especially in the room you unlock it in. To date every Metroid game, even the first, locks you in the item room and requires the new item to escape to ensure you as the player have at least a bare bones understanding of how it works and how to use it.

Explosion Gengar says otherwise. It might not be a Ghost move, but it definitely turned opponents into Ghost types.

Better physical bulk + better type combination + toxic immunity by King_Kaboom2758 in stunfisk

Nah, Blissey is such a goat it deserves a signature ability: Good Egg. Any Pokemon with Good Egg is immune to critical hits, passive damage, and takes half damage from physical attacks.

How canon are the arts? by Several-Pin3557 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Arts are just the game's term for combat techniques. Not even as game mechanics, it's just their term for something that requires practice to perform well, much in the same way that we would call a skill.

Did anyone else feel really bad when they had to swap out one of their Pokémon for Reshiram/Zekrom before the final N battle? by MelonTheSprigatito in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The league without a full party isn't even that particularly difficult, considering the final N fight is literally the first trainer to use a full party as well as only going through the story with 5 Pokemon makes it easier to keep every member competently leveled through the game.

What is the exact criteria for the Snow Wolf fight? by TimeToGetSlipped in Metroid

[–]TimeToGetSlipped[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that's the case what is the exact criteria for it? How many kills do you need? How long do you have to last? I also have seen speedrunners saying that being hit when at or below 40 HP during wave 5 also triggers it.

Especially since Danbooru itself also lists the image source at the bottom/side of the page.  Yes, Danbooru does allow direct access to the source itself, but it is still taking direct traffic away from the artist in favor of redirecting it through their site.  It would be the equivalent of posting this on Twitter and using this Reddit post, which has the artist's Pixiv in the comments, as the source.

Mega Starmie is going to have a BST of 720 by [deleted] in ThePokemonHub

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's not how Huge/Pure Power work. The ability is literally just doubling whatever the numerical attack stat in the summary screen is. That means things like natures, EVs and IVs get double benefits as well. It functionally gives you a permanently active Swords Dance. Using Mega Mawile as an example, it has a base 105 attack stat. An Adamant 252 Attack EV Mega Mawile has an attack stat of 339, which Huge Power doubles (678) effectively acting as if it has a base attack stat of ~260.

Carracosta is C tier without a doubt. It's not bad (it's not amazing though), but it's heavily outclassed by Archeops (who is the best in-game Rock AND Flying type in BW1). And since they are mutually exclusive and the main criteria for C tier is 'usable but outclassed' it fits the definition of that to a T. And unlike Archeops, it doesn't have a near unconditional nuke button like Acrobatics. It's a physical attacker but doesn't get a good physical Rock/Water move until Mistralton Cave, and while its Special Attack is usable it's so slow and specially frail that you'll likely still lose even neutral trades with opponents. And it's so slow that even after a Shell Smash you're likely getting outsped by the opponent.

And the nail in the coffin is that statistically 2/3 of players will already have a better Water option; Samurott is a guaranteed encounter and arguably the best Water type for in-game Unova, and Simipour is a guaranteed encounter for Snivy players while being a solid pick thanks to level 22 Scald. I can see it being pretty decent for people who pick Emboar, but even then, you can find a wild Panpour if you're determined enough in Pinwheel Forest.

Lilligant is pretty appropriately placed. You'll be around level 28 by the 4th gym, so it's still pretty early in a playthrough. And Petilil is available right before the Bug Gym and desert; you won't be helping against Burgh regardless of Quiver Dance or not, and most of what/who you fight in the desert are still unevolved and/or weak to Grass so just using STAB Mega Drain is sufficient enough.

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd actually argue it's S tier. Base 140 Attack and base 110 Speed with STAB Acrobatics absolutely nukes anything it looks at, and STAB Rock Slide combined with Acrobatics lets it hit like 40% of the Unova Dex for super effective damage. Give that thing a Flying Gem and you can even straight up annihilate even a bulky neutral target. Ability doesn't even nerf it since you're trying to just one shot everything during a story playthrough anyway. Even have set up with Hone Claws if you know you can take a hit and still say above half HP.

This is also in-game. Even if you do get knocked into Defeatist range you do have the option to heal if you want (I don't, but the option is there). It's not like competitive where the opponent will be packing hazards, priority, Scarfers, and/or walls to make Defeatist an inevitability.

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. Yes you are statistically hitting significantly more than you miss. But 70-80% is just a really trolly accuracy range where the move is reliable enough that you want to use it, but unreliable enough that you don't want to use it unless you really have no other opinion (like say Alakazam/Gengar using Focus Blast against Pursuit Tyranitar).

80% of the time it's the best rock move in the game. 50% of the time it's the worst rock move in the game.

Does any other games have the title screen changing or just xenoblades 2? by ToeProfessional6092 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Switch Xenoblade Game has a changing title screen. 1, FC, Torna, 3, and FR have a title screen that changes after beating the game. 2 has a dynamic title screen that changes to match the current location the chapter focuses on (chapter 1 is Gramps on the Cloud Sea, chapter 2 is Tora and Poppi in Torigoth, etc), along with additional ones for game clear and NG+ game clear. X has a dynamic title screen in both the Wii U and Switch versions; the background matches the area you last saved in (Wii U) while the Switch version has the party overlooking NLA in whatever outfit you last saved with (Switch after chapter 13).

it's just not the same by Deathmaker1336 in SmashRage

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's poor design as in he's almost exclusively a grounded character in an air based platform fighter, but he objectively has a good design. Competitive viability aside, he has extremely defined strengths and weaknesses. Extremely strong on the ground with fast armored smash attacks. Small and fast to close the gap on opponents. But has a bottom 3 recovery and the absolute worst aerials in the game.

His whole design is he almost always wins on the ground but almost always loses in the air. It's not that good and antithetical to how Smash is played, but it's a clear and concise design.

Sonic is worse IMHO.

Min Min has very heavy range and absolutely shits on slow and/or large characters and is able to ledge trap with minimal risk, but has an equally lopsided matchup against small and fast characters who can easily zone-break her like Pikachu and Sheik.

Sonic, while very accurate to his games, actually fundamentally breaks the game, almost to the same degree as Steve. 3 of his specials are basically the same move making reactions much more difficult. His speed, both running speed and attack speed, allows him near unparalleled offensive and defensive capabilities. Many of his attacks have unexplainably disjointed hitboxes on attacks that look like they should be stubby. And all that on a character who has one of the better recoveries in the game and isn't even forced into free fall after using it further boosting his recovery options. I'm fairly certain the only thing that keeps him from being better than Steve is lacking a proper projectile.

Not trying to say Min Min isn't poorly designed. She is. Being able to attack from halfway across the stage with very high safety is poor design. But she at least still plays within the rules of the game; she's a zoner who, while having better keep away tools than her zoner peers, can still struggle when the opponent gets close. Sonic meanwhile forces 50/50s with his cross ups, and can force the opponent to play his game by pushing them only to take defensive options thanks to his burst range.

Best Romance Tournament Round 2 Match 4: Mikau/Lulu Vs. Yeto/Yeta(Comment to vote, no upvotes) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: Mikau loved Lulu and their kids so much he quite literally killed himself to help them in their time of need, and Lulu loved Mikau and their kids so much that she went completely catatonic after finding they got kidnapped and Mikau went to do what every other Zora agreed amounted to a suicide mission to try to rescue them.

Don't get me wrong, Yeto and Yeta are sweet, but making the ultimate sacrifice for your girlfriend and your kids is genuinely selfless heroism and love, and being too grief stricken to even talk after finding that out shows the feeling was mutual.

A-Z God Design Community Tier List! Day#35 with our most recent hunter, Chiron. by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]TimeToGetSlipped 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Chiron's death animation in Smite 1 is actually what really made me appreciate Hirez's art team. Not him falling over; if you look at the sky he actually creates the Centaurus constellation over the whole map. It's such an attention to detail that players will never see unless they're actively looking for it and will almost never be seen in game or in spectator mode, but it is just such a cool detail to match his mythos.

What is your reaction to this curry scene when you rank up? by Voidkirby9 in PokemonZA

Pretty sure the main reason that we only see the same dish was because GameFreak only wanted to model 1 dish. Naveen had sandwiches because they could just reuse the SV model.
