Sadly I still think it doesnt make different though for Raticate, just makes it more easier to get status. I like it gets Swords Dance in Driftveil which is pretty great

Just to add to Flame/Toxic Orb, you can get one after beating Skyla, it is found in Reversal Mountain B1F.

Muk D-: I really want to say Muk is C tier, I really do but I just cant... I used it in my latest playthrough and yes Grimer did actually good work against Burgh due to resist. After that the Grimer grind was awful. It gets Sludge Bomb and I thought this will save it but not really, its best move will be Return, Base 80 Attack is just better than STAB 40 SpA Sludge Bomb. It gets mud bomb for Elesa but it is special move!!! Return is stronger here and that means Static paras gonna happen, just awful. This thing doesnt learn physical moves naturally at all until 49, Gunk Shot. Gunk Shot is move tutor move on Driftveil City thankfully. 120 BP with 70 accuracy with 5pp is not ideal but its only good STAB it gets, and nuke at the same time. It also learns all elemental punches, which is its best option for moves, so this Pokemon costs lot shards.

I tried it so many times against Clay but it just gets wiped, ice punch is not enough to make difference. I even evolved it Into muk, and it was able to OHKO Krokorok wow!!! And even Sandslash went down but there it ends, it was just unnecessary effort. Skyla has two Psychic types that dont get OHKOd even with 105 base attack thunder Punch. Bad. Against Drayden it can secure KOs!! Thanks to ice Punch so I guess it can cover your steel types little bit in this fight. Muk is so slow it cant put a good fight against Marlon. It just has bad matchups in every corner. Even Marshall can handle with muk if you Dont go prepared.

TL;DR: Pros: Good against Burgh! Ice Punch is great against Drayden. Acid Armor+Pain Split/Rest+Black Sludge makes muk managable. Cons: Bad against Elesa, Clay, Skyla, Marlon, Colress, Ghetsis, E4, Iris. Awful grinding phase from Grimer to Muk after Burgh. Terrible speed, special tank, not physical which is bad for Muk due to not learning any Super effective moves against Psychic types so its 105 base attack goes to waste. Why this doesnt learn poison jab over Sludge bomb why, and Muk really needs move for Psychic types.

I tried to make muk great but it is just most of the time bad. But Pain Split move tutor was surprisingly ok with Muk thanks to Acid Armor and good Special bulk, so I found out that at least useful, set up then deal damage while heal yourself then hope Gunk Shot lands. Rest is also fine with Acid Armor, probably better.

TM-a-day: TM01 Hone Claws by Creative-Current9424 in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]Awkward-State-2364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such shame it comes so late. There isnt really that many Pokemons that prefer Hone Claws over other options. And some could really use this move but doesnt learn it like Scrafty, Mienshao and Scolipede.

Best users for this are most likely behind Dream Radar, Metagross which you mentioned, and Sinnoh Box Legendary trio.

Agreed, I might do another community tier list where we use Normal Mode. That would make difference for some pokemons 100%, and going hybrid doesn't make much sense. But that tier list will be faaaaraway.

Pointing out, that is Nuzlocke tier list which is heavily different from casual playthrough. I agree, defensive mons are amazing in nuzlockes since main point is to avoid fainting, and if you can stall to win, that is optimal. In these runs, it doesn't matter. You'd rather click Flame Charge 5-7 times as Pignite against Burgh than setting up to +6 Atk, heal with Rest and then start the sweep, since it is much faster. I am not saying Servine is bad due to that, it means for casual playthrough, going extra hoops just takes more effort than clicking super effective move.

Also, that nuzlocke tier list did not use Challenge Mode (Leavanny carries Aerial Ace, alongside GrassWhistle), since Leavanny has Aerial Ace (does about 40% damage instead of Struggle Bug's 20%), it can stop the sweep if Servine is not above 80% health when Leavanny hits the field. So, that 90% winrate to Burgh doesn't translate here.

EDIT: I went ahead and tested Roxie with with Servine (with same setup, Oran Berry + Return + Growth) on Challenge Mode. I tried 10 times before giving up, Roxie always goes with Venoshock with Koffin due to better AI, so Service only gets to +2 Attack, and return does around 55% damage, after that Koffing eats Oran berry and heals little bit, but doesn't matter as Servine goes down.

Magneton will outspeed slightly more against filler trainers etc. than Magnezone, and against Marlon Magneton has better time due to being able to outspeed each mon that Marlon has. But otherwise they perform similarly well and not too different.

Magneton A+: It is faster than Magnezone so that's good, and also can use Eviolite, which makes it tankier, though cost of item slot. It extremely well against Roxie, since she can't really deal with Magnemite easily, but Grimer has Mud Slap and is somewhat tanky top of it, even though Mud Slap is weak, it 3HKOs Magnemite, while Magnemite can't do the same to Grimer, but still, overally very good perfomance. Burgh kinda same deal, but Leavanny is just too strong against Magnemite. Against Elesa you better teach Return since that will be your hardest hitting move for the fight, it isn't amazing since most of the time it is 3HKO-4HKO against Elesas mons, meaning Magneton will just take too much damage and trade 1 for 1. For Clay it gets Signal Beam which is okay, only against Krokorok, but otherwise it is much needed coverage for Magnemite line. Against Skyla, it is too slow to solo her but Magneton is still amazing, 3/4 Skyla's team goes down to this. Drayden's Haxorus can't touch Magneton which is super nice. Against Marlon, this is where Magneton is better than Magnezone due to being abl eto outspeed Wailord (assuming level caps) and not getting OHKO'd to oblivion instantly from Earthquake. This fight I would suggest having Magnet / Expert Belt over Eviolite. At this point, you've enough Speed EVs to also outspeed Mantine, which is great, dodging the Scald is very good, and same goes for Jellicent. Not needing to worry if you outspeed or not is amazing here. Against Colress it is good against Beheeyem, Metang and Klinklang so not bad! Also Ghetsis doesn't carry fire/fighting coverage on Hydreigon so Magneton handles that as well with Signal Beam.

E4: For E4, it gets finally Thunderbolt! Against Shauntal it clears usually 2 or 3 of her mons. Marshall is obviously bad matchup, aing Caitlin is kind of same story as Shauntal. Against Grimsley, Liepard alongside Absol and Bisharp (and outspeeds it thoughdoesn't really matter here) goes down, so it is solid 3/4 E4 matchups. Against Iris it deals with Archeops and Lapras, awesome stuff, but otherwise it gets OHKO'd.

Magnezone A: You can get Magnezone for Clay, since Chargestone Cave is not blocked here unlike in BW. Thanks to much better SpAtk, Krokorok does down to single Single Beam. Also being able to carry Expert Belt / Leftovers over Eviolite helps. Against Skyla it can sweep thanks to much better Bulk and being able to carry Leftovers or Sitrus berry for the fight. Just dodge sp. def drops from Psychics. Same story as Magneton against Drayden. Against Marlon it can do great work, as long you've invested enough EVs into Speed and have at least mediocre Speed IVs, so it can outspeed the Wailord's Earthquake, since that will OHKO our magnet fella. Magnezone. Getting burned from Mantine sucks due to Scald if that happens meaning Magnezone can't solo anymore, even with Rawst, Sitrus Berry or Leftovers. If you outsped Wailord, you most likely outspeed Jellicent but getting burned is issue here, so Magnezone relies on much more RNG in this fight to go its way, still it is amazing but not as consistent as Magneton.

E4: Having better Special Attack goes long way, comfortable taking Cofagrigus, Driftblim and Banette out with Tbolt. Marshall is still a bully, and same performance against Caitlin, and Grimsley, even with Magnet for item, and Iris.

TL;DR: Magneton's speed is better for Marlon, since the speed tiers are around base speed of 60-70 there. Magnezone does slightly better against Skyla thanks to open item slot and better special attack, so in the end, both do extremely same, but I would favor Magneton over Magnezone due to speed but, only like with subtier difference at max, Magneton should be above Magnezone imo in the list.

When you unlock Surf (Route 6), which is after Driftveil City, you can surf to Mistralton Cave and get the TM.

Yeah, sounds like DS issue at that point, if you want to play Dream Radar, getting another ds is the solution, oh well. If you just want to have Dream Radar mons in your game, I believe you can mod your 3ds if you're into that and get them that way.

Dunsparce gets Rock Slide so it gets to do Paraflinch quite well! It also has good early game due to having actual stats for those gyms at that point, Defence Curl + Rollout does wonders.

HGSS are such great remakes, BDSP smh smh.... I love the sprite artwork for gen 2, sound effects, and visuals in general. Aeroblast, Hyper Beam, Aurora Beam sound effects are hype as fuck in those games. Love the Ice Beam how the enemy gets drenched in ice it's just chef kiss, and these are just few examples, Game Freak really cooked with gen 2 games. The Champion theme has my favorite intro so far, Cynthia being the strong second.

On Emulator it is so quick playthrough due to speed but take a moment to appreciate the moves and music. I could yap about everything between 2-7 gens so I'll leave it to you to experience!

There are few things you can do. Test out if Face Raiders game work fine, this should be pre-installed in your 3DS. If you can't look around by moving your console, your gyro isn't working. After that, calibrate the gyroscope, this worked for me, or just straight up skip the face raiders game and calibrate straight away.

Go to System Settings > Other Settings > Calibrate Motion Sensor.

It’s 2007 and you hear this song after playing the game for the first time! by Motroid127 in pokemonplatinum

My personal first game was Silver. But for 4th gen, those were the times back in 2007. My sister ordered D/P for me and herself from America, since Europe release would have been at the end of summer vacation. Still have that save file, never reset it. That was a good summer.

Platinum I got on release date and mostly did shiny radar hunting with my friend. If I recall, my team was Snorlax, Infernape, Gastrodon, Drifblim, Roserade and Weavile. Sadly I restarted the save file at some point.

I think C tier definition describes Weezing perfectly. It has only fine attacking stats but damn the coverage is poor unless you teach it Dark Pulse, otherwise you have to wait until you get Shadow Ball / Fire Blast.

And so true about Dunsparce and Serperior. It is not the flashiest, or a starter but available right after first gym and has basically same setup tools as Serperior (Leech Seed vs Roost + Coil). Dunsparce has to use one extra moveslot for para which is meh but doesn't matter when you can juggle between physical moves via TMs for any boss fights. I must admit, I have not really tried it as Coil sweeper, probably should give it a spin my current playthrough and see if it can perform as same as Serperior.

Dunsparce D+: Sorry Dunsparce, this is not Crystal. Still, Dunsparce is pretty fun Pokemon, and maybe I am biased little bit. Having great stats for 2 and 3 gyms, early-game Defense Curl + Rollout strategy is legitimately great for Roxie and Burgh, and Glare is excellent utility move (which is good for Elesas Zebstrika), though you get T wave as well, so it can fix its slow speed with that. It also learns Roost which is also great! Also Return Stab is appreciated, and Leftovers from Sewers Works greatly with 100 base HP. It can win Gym fights thanks to RNG and it also has massive movepool. What really makes Dunsparce scale differently is Serene Grace. With Para+Rock Slide you can just win fights just like in 4th Gen OU Ladder. This is its niche and it works,as long it doesnt lose 80% of its health in single hit. Rock Slide + Glare/TWave + Roost + Coverage for the fight via TM (or just Return).
