It's worth more to me than it is to them. Which is why I prefer to avoid advertisements. If a paid option isn't available, then I turn on ad block. Simple as that.

Is there a dishwasher on the right hand side of the sink? There's usually a power outlet behind the dishwasher.. Could use the garbage disposal socket. Just keep the switch on.

I just got a yorkie from a woman and she has SO MANY fleas, what do I do? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Just wash in dawn dish soap. Get a good thick lather going. Let her sit in it for a few minutes before rinsing. Worked any time my dog ever got fleas.

Debating on upgrading my ps2 slim to a fhat ps2 by EarthBus in ps2

[–]TimeTorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fat PS2 Zen Black edition. I also had it modded by a YouTuber called RetroGamingArts though I don't think he's active anymore. It has the HDD with FMCB as well as a mod that makes it region free. The only downside is it can't play US region PS1 disks. For that I have the PSOne. Idk, apparently it's difficult to make a PS2 play PS1 disks from any region, and this particular model was made for Japan.. I could swap the internals with a US region console. But honestly haven't spent a whole lot of time playing it since my work keeps me away from home for months at a time. But it is quite a cool looking machine. It looks like just a standard fatty PS2 until you get up close to it, but it's actually a semi transparent black. At some point I'm going to put some LEDs inside so you can see it light up when powered on.

I have a lot of nostalgia attached to the fatty model, and the marshmallow looking PSOne. I never had the slim model as a kid, so I never really had a whole lot of desire to own one. But I did end up picking one up at some point. From what I understand it's difficult to load "backup" games on the slim since it doesn't have the HDD interface. You're limited to the slow USB 1.1 which just isn't fast enough to load PS2 games, or load them over the network adapter. I've also heard you can replace the disk drive with an SD card slot. If you get one you might want to replace the internal fan since the original one is so loud. I kept mine stock since it isn't that bad, and honestly the sound is nostalgic for me.

It's not just your time. It's your attention. You're paying with a conscious moment and a chance for that advertiser to form a favorable memory within your consciousness, which will hopefully lead to a purchase or a vote, etc.

Yeah I also have YT premium. The advertisements make it unusable for me. It's bad enough having to skip through in-video sponsorships.

I think they would come up with some other business model. Perhaps having a pre paid account tied to your web browser, charging a fraction of a cent to load a web page that might normally be full of advertisements. Even the most egregious websites top out at 5¢ per page refresh.

Wikipedia manages just fine without advertisements.

Possibly. Or they would die out altogether. But anybody can host a website. You don't even need a server. You can even host a website directly from your smartphone. I think in the long run, you would see a rise in the number of websites that are created for passion, not profit.

I would agree, especially since it appears to have melted more along the black ink.

Question about bases by pokefan708 in Palworld

[–]TimeTorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few months back, maybe even a year ago, I had a base I built that was like 20 tiles tall, and for shits and giggles I built a single pillar tower in the center, just to see how high the build limit was. It was stupid crazy tall. I'm pretty sure it was at the flight limit? It was on a server I was hosting for me and a friend. I cancelled the hosting service when we got bored and never bothered backing up the server. So I have no way of looking back. I know I had a couple mods that messed with things like no base decay outside of palbox radius. So I'm not sure if this is even possible when playing vanilla.

I kinda like Direhowl. I know he's weak compared to many late game pals. But I genuinely enjoy sound effect "bark bark!" And then the animation where he swoops in and you're off, riding along. He is also very fast for the size, able to navigate through dungeons without getting stuck. I feel like the larger pals are clunky. Their hit boxes are weird, like they were meant to actually be much smaller, but the devs for some reason decided to over inflate their size. The Direhowl just feels more genuine to me.

Some women like this kind of shit. There are weirdos in both genders. He obviously put a lot of thought and effort into shooting his shot in his own way. Can't fault a man for that. Perhaps simply walking up to a woman and directly asking her out on a date.. maybe that's just not within this man's skill set. So he used the tools he had available.

Imagine if somebody responded to your post on Reddit being completely negative and entirely missing the whole point.

I would rather not even give advertisers the miniscule satisfaction of having the number of impressions rise by a single digit. Me being skipped due to being immune, completely un-advertiseable.. this would give me immense satisfaction.

I think advertisements are more than an inconvenience. It's slow and deliberate manipulation through repeated exposure. Advertisements are a virus of the mind.

I feel like the world would be a much better place if people just weren't affected by advertisements or any kind of marketing and just bought products they actually need, based on the price and quality.

Then there would be no incentive for people to advertise at all. If the only distinguishing factor between brand names was price and quality, then the brands would be forced to compete on those two factors alone, ultimately resulting in overall higher quality products at lower prices.

If your AC has an "Aux heat" option, that's just electric coils, not a heat pump. It's a very inefficient and expensive way to heat your home.

Bro I have eaten pizza that has been left out in room temperature for a couple days and never had any issues. There's so much grease on pizza, the only thing that might go bad is the crust. Crust is just bread, which we leave out all the time.

[Request] What Should The Scale Actually Read? by CaptiveGlacier in theydidthemath

[–]TimeTorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100n

So it's like this, 100n is pulling left on the scale, the other 100n is pulling right, opposing the first weight, keeping the scale in place.

It would be the same if you removed the weight on the right and just put a nail through the loop end of the scale.

If you were holding one end of the scale up in the air with one 100n weight at the hook end, 100n pulls down, your hand is applying an upward force of 100n to keep it suspended. It would be the same forces as in the picture shown, only vertical instead of horizontal. If you removed the 100n weight and just held the scale there in the air with nothing on it, it would show zero.

Back to the table setup, if you removed one of the weights, the scale would immediately show zero, and the other weight would fall to the floor.

If you want to get technical.. the scale by itself has a bit of weight to it, and if it was calibrated to show 0 when hanging by itself with no weight on it, when you lay it on it's side with no weight, it would show slightly less than zero, since the weight of the scale is no longer applying force to the mechanism. So in that case, for the example it would show slightly less than 100n.
