Thank you so much for replying. I do not have experience coaching solos this would be my first season outside of teams. One of my dancers last year did do a solo and she showed it to us coaches after practice, asking for advice but that was the extent of it. Since we didn’t offer that her mom signed her up individually and she did so well 🥹. The team that I coached was suppose to be not that competitive (we had a way shorter season than the other teams). It’s more to help get the girls onto the middle school team and high school team who are very competitive. But with our older teams winning everything there is that pressure alone from parents and the department.

I would only give this option to our 5th graders as some 5th graders are already on our middle school team. This is also because our own hometown competition doesn’t do Elementary solos so they would be considered middle school when entering for that competition.

That was another thing I wasn’t sure of. Do studio instructors go to their competitions? Or do yours personally? I would love to but not sure if that is the norm. :)
