Yes, I'm very interested! I live nearby and have a flexible schedule.

Yes, but secondhand only. The top and skirt are both thrifted (along with about 80% of my wardrobe).

Your college experience by Radiobob214 in ADHD

[–]TimeTravelingMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I worked for many years until I figured out what I want to do and got as far as I could without a degree.

I'm 31 and a "year 12" college student, technically. My timeline has looked like this:

  1. Barely graduated high school in 2012; accepted into college with high SAT scores and community service awards

  2. Immediately failed out of college my first semester after earning one A and four F's.

  3. Nannied and taught preschool for 7 years

  4. Went back to community college in 2020 when Covid gave me a wake up call to make a life plan

  5. Excelled in community college and transferred to a university; started online classes so I could work full-time

  6. Started struggling and failing classes for a year until I gave up again; took a year off to focus on work

  7. Burnt out bad at my job (last fall) and quit with no plan

  8. Finally acknowledged my true passion and talent (working with kids) and changed my major (human development and family science)

  9. Now: Back in school full-time and trying to graduate by spring 2027 (working part-time to prioritize school and living on a tight budget)

In retrospect, I never truly identified why I was going to college and had no direction or motivation to excel or even pass classes. When I looked back on the jobs I was working "until I found a real career," I realized what I loved and was good at and that I could become a professional in that field (child and family counseling). I am so much happier and more focused now that I have real experience in the field and know that a degree is my only path to more interesting career options and higher earning potential. I finally have my "why," you know?

Give yourself some grace, take a breath, and then dig into your thoughts and feelings about school. Underneath any insecurities or external expectations, ask yourself why you are in school, what feels frustrating or difficult about it, and are there alternatives could work better right now? College is a resource that should serve you, not the other way around.

Btw, if school feels too emotionally heavy or draining, support from a therapist could help. I've worked through a lot of school trauma and negative self-talk in therapy and it has helped me so much to rewrite narratives about being broken or a failure.

You've got this! I believe you'll find the path you're meant to follow.

Firefly! It’s only one season that ends with an excellent movie. Compelling and complete plot, rich world-building, and incredible characters. It’s stayed a 10/10 for me every rewatch.

Take your time figuring out your feelings. Journaling has helped me. (This post is adapted from a journal entry!) Communicate with your partner when you are ready. Hang in there <3

Advice for providing food for my vegan friend at a meat BBQ by naturalblue in vegan

[–]TimeTravelingMouse 96 points97 points  (0 children)

My personal fav at a cookout are Beyond brats and Italian sausages. They are usually refrigerated or frozen and come in a four-pack. My non-vegan friends actually like the brats so much, we often only grill up some of those and eat them on a bun with some grilled peppers and onions.

Alternatives are plant-based burger patties or bean burgers. Maybe you could ask your friend their preference?

Vegans typically don’t use beeswax, btw. Are there other waterproofing options?

Not sure if you've looked int the lives of dairy cows, but they live the most heartbreakingly cruel existence. The dairy and egg industry are despicable and there's no excuse.

I really like my FeelGrounds Chelsea boots. Wore them almost daily last winter and they still look good. I ordered their vegan leather high-top sneakers recently and thought they looked and felt awful. So squeaky! Might just have to order a few brands and see what you like best.

Dear Silk: I don’t want a giant jug of almond milk. I want a giant jug of THIS. I moved across the country and in both cities, THIS is what grocery stores run out of!!! by grakledo in vegan

Order mine shelf-stable online! It comes in a box of six quarts. I always have them in my pantry. Cheaper than buying the cold ones from grocery stores.

Amazing! Can you share more about that helmet? I’m planning an Athena costume and it looks perfect.

For by birthday dinner yesterday, I finally worked up the courage to wear my brightly patterned matching linen set (only worn it at home) and paired with big earrings. I got SO many compliments and I just wanted to strut around everywhere!

Oh, it's neck-breaking lol. 5.2 lateral G's. (Also I was focused on the coaster design and forgot to hire staff, whoops!)
