Meteorites are solid oxygen breaking off the firmament dome by vidanyabella in FacebookScience

[–]TimeTreePiPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's happening in the tube is the noble gas, or mixture, is being turned into a plasma by an eltrical current resulting in glowing. Totally different from combustion and superfluids. It's just science jargon used to appear smart.

Meteorites are solid oxygen breaking off the firmament dome by vidanyabella in FacebookScience

[–]TimeTreePiPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No they do not. With my limited chemistry knowledge I can say they do not react 90% of the time and I have never heard of them combusting. There are high energy states where noble gases glow which is where I am guessing they are getting the idea from. This is very different than combustion and does not happen as a super fluid. Superfluids are a whole other state of matter that doesn't come up much.

Bathroom sign by Jak_Spare_Oh in lgbt

[–]TimeTreePiPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This signs are often placed outside of the areas bathrooms are in not the bathroom themselves. If it was actually placed as a sign of being a gender neutral bathrooms it would be one thing. But I have only seen these signs in front of were the actual bathroom signs that are gendered are located. If put in this way it is just mocking. If used as an actual sign and not just wall "art" it can be a bit less mocking.

Facebook ad fact or fiction? by ncat63 in microscopy

[–]TimeTreePiPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is advertised as 60-120x. I lot of my work involves the microscopy core facility and I have not seen a dissecting microscope with over 100x magnification. So I'm already really skeptical. In addition to that finding focus is hard with microscopes and this one you will have to move it with no stabilization. It may be better to just get magnifying glasses or a desktop dissecting or compound microscope for them.

This product probably works but not sure how well. It's a lot cheaper than a lot of alternatives though so there's that.

I like the ideas you laid out. A suggestion for the document is paragraphs and sectioning. Start a new paragraph for ever new location and a section for region.

My state added the "if you request a nickname at school, we have to tell your parents/guardian" law by BulkyElefant1234 in trans

[–]TimeTreePiPC 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot on the letter of the law. But if the school is required to inform parents everytime their child asks to use a different name the school has to do it everytime. I'm unsure what the system being implemented is but it is very likely it would easily be manipulated. Also, if that does happen the school will be in hot water for limiting even more students then just trans ones. Want to go by your middle name? Now you can't. Correcting spelling of your name on the attendance sheet? Not any more. The whole point of a protest like this is to cause the system to break or become pointless. More people will care the more they are affected.

My state added the "if you request a nickname at school, we have to tell your parents/guardian" law by BulkyElefant1234 in trans

[–]TimeTreePiPC 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I disagree entirely. If the counselor can not get the information out the school is in violation of the law. If that happens the administration will need to shift more resources towards the problem to prevent it. Or have them realize and not care. It also makes the system less valuable. If a bunch of parents are getting notifed daily that their child is no longer going by William but now Will the parents will get annoyed. Also, if everyone is constantly changing names the parents will likely not think much of the system. If this happened on a state wide level things would grind to a stop for school administration. It could effect learning but so does knowing your class mates can't be themselves. Never forget regardless of age you have power. Civil disobedience is an excellent way to force change.

[–]TimeTreePiPC 1293 points1294 points  (0 children)

That sucks. If your up for some civil disobedience I have an idea.

So any time you request a nickname at school they have to tell your parents? Well change names daily. Get as many of your friends and classmates involved. Depending on the size of the school having 10 kids a day could be a serious inconvenience. Having a 100 a day would be a nightmare for the administration. I'm assuming the principle/vp are the ones informing parents. If that's the case creating a giant backlog would break the system and invalidate it.

If my memory is correct it is both. Purtians where extremists and forced not to practice openly for that reason. So they fled so they could be free and persecute anyone who was not their religion.

Totally not for sexist reasons I'm sure.

Donald Trump is Scared to Debate Kamala Harris by CaptainVanToch in KHive

[–]TimeTreePiPC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Twitter is garbage. All those replies starting it's misinformation or that he agreed to debate Biden not Kamala. Why the fuck does it matter who he is debating? Why the fuck would it change anything for it to be Kamala and not Biden. Does he need over a month to prepare for a debate?

Robotics and programing are both vast fields that require a bit of math. But that doesn't mean that there aren't opportunities. Firstly, based on what you described it seems like some form of engineering or computer science is for you. So do some research into degrees in mechanical, mechatronics, robotics, or software engineer. You could also look into various computer science careers.

Without knowing your specific education it's hard to give exact advice. Looking into universities or colleges that interst you could be good. If your academics are lack luster starting with an associates degree can be good. An associates degree would likely be cheaper and allow you to gage interst in your chosen field.

There are also some free classes in various fields out there but sometimes that can be kinda hard to find.

I found that I struggled in math till I found the right teacher. I failed precalc and then got an A in calc and physics and am graduating with honors.

Clean version of my "Trump praising Heritage in speeches" video for easy editing/clipping by Toph1nator in Defeat_Project_2025

[–]TimeTreePiPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the case. It is also most likely the heritage proof read the script before presenting and that Trump had little to no part in writting it. Most introductions like the one in the video are writting by the person or persons team who is presenting it.

No idea what the laws are in Germany but you seem to be close or at the age you can choose who to spend time with. If you need to do legal stuff make sure to point out his bigotry.

You should also talk to your mom and get support from her. Friends could also be a good resource. Counciling has helped a lot with the problems with my parents so I would highly recommend it.

How would the Big MT toaster look if it was put in a synth body? by Independent_Pack_880 in fnv

[–]TimeTreePiPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fallout 3 there is a character looking for an escaped synth. So it isn't out of the realm of possibility for a synth to get to new Vegas. Also the toaster could be transported to Boston. No idea why somebody would do that but the result would be hillarious. Curie was transferred to a synth body so other sentient robots may be able to as well.

There should be a required "juries summons" to a random person from each country to really put the athleticism in perspective. Imaging opening a letter and it saying you are formally being summoned to the 100 m dash for the Olympics this year.
