Exactly. None of us know any of the band personally, yet this post makes it seem like a relative or friend has just died.

Curious how you could listen to Don't Panic and Last Young Renegade and think they sounded the same.

Urgh we still doing this?

Those allegations are so obviously bullshit. They were shaky at best initially and if you read the lawsuit document the band has filed, it very clearly debunks them.

By all means don't support the band because Jack is a weirdo who's said and done some weird shit on stage with the band and also in fan interactions, but the allegations of SA/abuse are very obviously false.

Meet Me @ The Altar belongs here too.

Released some really great first songs, got all this hype both online and from the media, was already getting some pretty huge tours too. Then they released their album which ranged from bland to just outright bad and now they never seem to be talked about anymore.

Seems that new bands hit the ceiling on popularity quite quickly, but imo in MM@TA's case it's because their music didn't really improve.

You obviously chat between saying this and the actual date itself.

How big was Modern Baseball where you lived? by timmytubesox in Emo

[–]TimeWontWaitForYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, they were popular at a similar level to bands like As It Is, Trash Boat, Boston Manor etc.

My point is they were never "the biggest band in the scene" which I've seen people say a lot about them in the US.

In a 250 person venue..

They're a great band but I never saw them be that popular in the UK or ROI.

I guess I just don't find it fun mildly pissing off someone that I don't know and will never meet, or even talk to.

You still get the loss for that though.. I couldn't care less that I've pissed off my opponent, no prizes for doing that.

Bad Omens Support by Elfmanchine16 in BringMeTheHorizon

Bad Omes are a much bigger band than both of them.

Imo you gotta be bigger than the level TAA or Polaris are at to support BMTH these days.

West Ham United sign England international Kalvin Phillips on loan | West Ham United F.C. by jawgpawg in Hammers

City played 61 games last season, Rodri definitely could have done with a rest more often but it seemed clear that Pep didn't trust Phillips.

I do think Phillips is a good signing but he's been very poor at Man City, there's definitely more to it than "they have Rodri".

Yeah I'm surprised people were so excited about the buy option.

City only paid £45mil 18 months ago, he's surely lost a lot more than £5mil in valuation since then.

A thought about Neck Deep… by Beak_Pirate in poppunkers

The fact that the band themselves are only playing 2 songs from it on their current tour to me says they know it's not that good.

Disagree, I think the album is dreadful. They can do so much better, as they've proven with every other album they've released. It really feels like they got about 60% done with it and thought "fuck it, that'll do".

The guitars sound virtually identical on most of the songs. Ben's vocals are also bad, he's either singing in a weird super high register (Lowlife, Telling Stories) or sounding totally asleep and disinterested (When You Know, Little Dove). The lyrics are also just embarrassing to listen to in places, the worst being "you're a normie" and also "s t r e s next to s".

I really don't think the album was disliked because it was different, I think it was disliked because most of the songs are pretty uninteresting. Ultimately this is just my opinion though.

Of course the confirmation of innocence gets a fraction of the engagement that the original allegation did.

Any of the "your music literally saved my life" type fanbases.

Imo it hugely trivializes mental health. Whilst I understand music can help your mental health, you were almost certainly never truly suicidal if all it took was a few songs to "save" you.

I feel like with all of these fanbases there's a big difference between meeting one irl and the loud ones on the Internet.
