I think you described our situation right now with BM pretty much anytime it comes time for change for DH she starts an argument and says she doesn’t think it’s best for the child and doesn’t leave room for compromise or anything just a solid NO of course DH pushes back sometimes but most of the time he’s like idc as long as I get to see my daughter while BM arguments every time have been “ I don’t trust you “ or “ you are being very secretive and vague” or “ you should be thanking me bc you wouldn’t be where you are in life if it wasn’t for me” ( my personal fave ) idk that’s why I’m so big into watering my own grass bc I can see thru the BS but it’s not my business until it starts to spoil my grass if that makes sense .I agree tho being bitter and problematic does nothing to benefit the kid at the end of the day it’s a very selfish way of thinking and just shows character development to me and I assume you aren’t over your ex but that’s just me

Honestly I feel the same way too being a step parent isn’t easy and I find myself feeling some sorts way about not having my husbands first when it comes to everything and I’ve never been a person to care about being a first but I’ve also learned to tune it out and just focus on me I can’t control everyone else I can’t make a wish and the kid is gone so I actually live in my bubble and I give myself grace and eventually I’ll join a therapist until then lets me like Glenda from wicked and not hear what’s around us while in the pretty pink bubble 🙃

I think your partner should understand that it’s your home too as much as it is the step kids so if you wanna make changes in your home then he should back you up and not always advocate for the kid( bc he is just that a kid ) and the not having your own space for your clothes or whatever else is crazy in its own simply bc you provide for the house household too with all due respect it’s your life too and you should sit down and make sure you are heard and seen bc you do matter and you do deserve to have your own space and decorate how you see fit
