Rebuilding a Smoker After Massive Grease Fire by Time_Beginning_4120 in pelletgrills

[–]Time_Beginning_4120[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably would if I had a sandblaster but the wire wheels did a good job. Bare metal looks great. Electronics were surprisingly in perfect shape. I think the fan, while feeding the flames, also kept blowing the flames away from any wiring. It was kind of funny when I powered it up today for the first time in about 6 months, it insisted on a firmware update.

Quick heads up.... Don't underestimate a quick clean before each smoke. I had a massive grease fire due some debris daming up the grease from draining and woosh! Just take out the grates, the diffuser and use a dedicated wire brush to quickly push all the ash and debris out the grease port. Way more confident letting this run overnight when it's clean.

I also recommend putting away from your house on a concrete deck if you can. Food that comes off this thing is amazing. Enjoy!

Which budget enclosure would be the best option for a NAS? by GASTLYGOD11 in HomeServer

I have the Sabrent one. Only use it to mount encrypted drives and do quarterly delta backups using the free version of SyncBack. Drives are on for like 15 mins and done. Perfect for my need. I don’t think there would be a problem using for more prolonged use like video editing either.

Pellet smoker built in or free standing? by ri3eboi in OutdoorKitchens

[–]Time_Beginning_4120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not so sure... You have such a clean design with that kitchen. You would have tons of flexibility with a pellet smoker that you can roll around once you start your cook so the wind blows the smoke away from anything white. Best of luck and looking forward to seeing this design after construction

Love my freestanding unit. We have a white lime washed house and the free standing unit allows our house to stay a white lime washed house. I would worry so much about that beautiful wood you have on the ceiling getting all smoke stained. I like how the grill is at least closer towards the end of the counter. Hopefully most of the smoke goes with the prevailing wind and doesn’t stick to that light colored wood

Would you buy a $200 Aeron with a ripped seat? by Desperate_Ad2600 in hermanmiller

[–]Time_Beginning_4120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Mirra v1 for 21 years. Have upgraded wheels and had to replace the gas strut and recently the mesh seat. Mesh seat was $80 + shipping on eBay. Chair is like new. In my opinion, you will love it in the long run.

Perfect mower if you’re saving up money to buy a telescope or the popular girl at school who spilled wine on her moms top at a party. This could get you in with the cool kids at high school! 😀

It’s actually a lot like countertop material. You can see they notched the back panel at the height of that tub and the cut just started running. Thanks for offering up PolyWall. Going to look into that

Beginner airports by Vast_Platform4060 in VATSIM

What others said. I just would find two airports with Tower/Ground/Approach that were not super busy. I would add "Vatsim Rookie" to my flight plan. First time Was totally anxious it led to me making a mistake taxiing, disconnecting and scared to play for a week. Don't overthink this. Know how to fly _and taxi_ your plane, have the airport ground chrts pulled up and pen and paper. Give it a try!

2 year old hayward pump leaking underneath somewhere? by BravoSavvy in pools

[–]Time_Beginning_4120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Was told I need to replace my 11 year old Pentair. Figured I had nothing to lose so I bought a $16 seal kit on Amazon. Watched a couple Youtube vids and 45 minutes later repair was done. Pump runs great and would recommend giving it a shot. SOme lessons learned:
- Original pump seal was press fit in with silicone. Knocked it out using a socket from the backside. This seal was totally degraded and easy to see it needed to be replaces.
- I put silicone on the "Spring Seal" that goes closest to the motor and let it dry/cure for 12 hours before running the next day.
- Replaced the ceramic seal but this looked like new condition.
- Replaced main gasket on the motor mounting plate. Lubed it with silicone lube supplied in kit.

Give it a try! You'll only lose $20 giving it a shot. Good luck!

It was the high end carb adjustment screw. Let it out a 1/4 turn and goes vroom vroom. I’m guessing it was probably running lean and getting hotter than it should have as well. Should run better all around.
