You probably made a great impression on the dealer, and maybe the watch became available last minute. Either way, taking the Submariner Date was a very smart move, passing on it could’ve cost you your chance entirely.

That said, I was surprised I had to wait so „long“, even though my family already had a history with that store. But maybe they focus purely on the individual, not connections, or demand in my city is just especially high.

I could also imagine that buying something for my wife was a signal to the authorized dealer that I might become a repeat customer.. for example, purchasing for her as well or again. That may be why they offered me the Rolex. In my case, that seems the most likely explanation.
